Big drinking issue when he was playing and was an angry drunk. Rumours of drugs but who'd know. Got KOd by Ben Cousins because he was out of control one night. Given Cousin's threshold for out of control back in those days, I reckon he wouldn't have been much fun to be around.

I seem to remember reading they had been drinking in the hotel bar til stumps then went to their rooms. Connors drank the mini bar dry in his room then ended up in the hotel foyer causing a ruckus. Cousins, Dean Polo and another player went down to get him to bed, he objected so Cousins whacked him. The club suspended Connors for 12 weeks (he wasn't allowed to go to training or near the club for 9 weeks). The other 3 players got suspended for a week.
