Basically what I think it would look like. If AFL give us priority pick compensation we probably just eat the loss here and give up pick 14. We can justify the priority picks based on us using them for experienced bodies basically that will make us more competitive now
If you guys get an end of first round priority pick, I could see that plus your late 2nd being enough to satisfy us for Marshall. Would allow us to trade the later 2nd to GWS for Aleer, while still getting an additional (albeit late) first rounder.
That's probably about $200 000 more than Cameron's supposedly on.

Not sure if it would be in Collingwoods interest.
Probably better off giving by Cameron a bump
I would have thought Cameron would be looking for something closer to a mil, considering the form he's in and the cap increase. But yeah I mean I have no idea about cap stuff. Is he thinking about leaving because he wants more money, or because he wants to go home?

From the rumours:
  1. He wants to finish his AFL days playing in WA.
  2. Money secondary
But who knows.

My take on it is he's been getting paid money you normally pay for a second string ruck and he wants a decent bump.

I think Collingwood's cap might be tight.

If Collingwood don't come to the party and he wins another flag, that might be enough for him to request a trade back home.

I think he requests a trade home anyway ie. without the flag. Its this year or never for Cameron. The contract we are offering wont be the same in 12 months time. When he comes we will be looking to frontload the deal off the back of Govs retirement which is how we would be giving him the pay bump. In 12 months time that same contract wont be around for him

That's what they were saying on gettable, that the pies won't budge on his contract, so you'd figure it's all about money.

Surely something along the lines of the following makes sense:

Cameron ---- West Coast

Marshall ---- Collingwood

West Coast pick 14 (tied to Hawthorn) ---- St. Kilda

Maybe points and futures shuffled around to even it out

Why in the world would West Coast do that?

What's Marshall's contract like?
If Collingwood are underpaying Cameron (as reported) we may not have the cap space for Marshall.
He may prefer to go to Geelong/other team chasing him?

Marshall wants to go to Geelong but I think st kilda will hold him to his deal regardless. I think Collingwood would have to look for another ruck.

How is Marshall going to be cheaper if their is a bidding war against Geelong? (Plus Carlton may join in if TDK goes to the saints)
I wouldn’t be after Marshall.
You can pick up a cheap, handy ruckman with senior experience like Ned Reeves.

If you think Marshall is worth a late 1st round pick + a 2nd round pick, what do you think Cameron is worth?

On what planet is Marshall equal to Cameron? If the Pies received pick 14 for Cameron, there is no way they will be giving it to St Kilda for Marshall.

West Coast are rebuilding for years to come. There's zero point them trading for a 30yo.

Our ruck disaster hurts the growth of the young midfielders big time. It's one thing to be poor in the ruck but completely uncompetitive is another thing

I think we would take Reeves but he wouldn't come so just gotta target players who will

Push trading isn’t a thing in AFL.
RoMa has to agree to the trade, especially contracted.

Not sure what you’re talking about. Marshall is the same age as Cameron. This is in relation to West Coast giving pick 14 to St Kilda, Marshall to Collingwood and Cameron to West Coast.

Or, the St Kilda guy suggesting a late 1st round + 2nd round from West Coast for Marshall.

And also, the West Coast have plenty of cap space and are in dire need quality players with experience and leadership. You don’t bring that in, you end up like North. Add tot hat they are in dire need of a ruckman to help their young midfielders, so would be crazy to not look at Cameron.

Cameron is part of the Collingwood leadership group and a premiership player. 2nd in our B&F. A great contested mark. Durable and over the past couple of seasons, one of the premier ruckman in the game. He has at least 3 or 4 years of footy in him.

West Coast should rightly be in his ear.

Anyone watching todays game can see why we need Darcy Cameron

Updates are Collingwood/Cameron still not close to a deal. I think its coming close to certain he requests a trade to West Coast. Its just a case of if Collingwood say No and hold him to his deal/dont wanna do anything

I imagine Eagles would give Collingwood the points they need for the 2 academy/fs players they have
He is contracted and Pies are not interested in trading him
has to be an offer too good to refuse
