Vomit Orchestra is a side project of Vrolok. There isn't much available on youtube.Anyone who likes a bit of DA tinged with psychedelic insanity, strange chanting and freaked out futuristic industrial sounds ala Axis Of Perdition will love this i'm sure.Antecrux is the only LP to this point i think, and there is a track on there called Dance Ov The Sugardrugged Faery that is absolutely tripping balls.

I think Dark Ambient is just super, don't you?

i do listen to dark ambient, but after my initial concentration on death metal/black metal i then went in so many directions at once that it's lost in amongst the other types. as well as getting into what could be considered dark ambient, i also got into noise (merzbow and so on).
raison d'etre has already been mentioned. look up 'shinjuku thief', melbourne's own. see also - http://www.darrinverhagen.com/ - shinjuku main-man. he also had a small distributor that sold relatively obscure ambient/etc stuff. dorobo records... not sure if he still does something similar.
tribes of neurot, will be worth a look (neurosis side-project)
lotus eaters, as well (sunn o))) side-project but much softer )
puissance - described as neo-classical or something. militaristic sounding.
neptune towers - the fenriz dark ambient project which i have never managed to get around to listening to.
generally though i tend to favor the more 'experimental' (see tribes of neurot) stuff, which overlaps somewhat with dark ambient. ie, brume, coil, mira calix. could be the type of thing to look into down the track.

Lotus Eaters and Coil i have material of.It is interesting you mention Merzbow - i just recently got a couple of the Japanese Bird volumes,it is interesting stuff!

Puissance i have not heard, but from your description they might sound similar to Triarii or Pazuzu,or even Dargaard. Will check them out.

Neptune Towers i have, caravans and transmissions.

This might be worth a new thread, but i decided to put it here.I don't think a thread dedicated to my next topic will get many replies,so.....

Ok so i'm on a bit of a crusade of dark jazz, doom jazz, and noir jazz.I've liked this sort of music for a long time, but only ever really heard it in movies,or here and there on some esoteric radio station in the middle of the night, or in some cafe. You know the situation, you hear music that you fall in love with and have fleeting moments of joy upon hearing it somewhere but never really know where to look or who to ask to actually start a collection of your own.

A while back i decided "**** this" as you do and began the long road to narrowing down what specific sub-genre of jazz it is i love, because i absolutely hate with a passion old school 'noodly' jazz and big band style stuff.Turns out i love some doomy, dark noir jazz.I like it even more when it is merged with dark ambient and dark, power electronics. Some of this music might be more correctly labelled lounge, chillout or IDM.It's a genre minefield out there.

This is Zarko territory now,i'm somewhat of an amateur in this genre but i'll give it a shot, this stuff deserves to be heard and recommended. Some of the songs i would like to put here aren't on youtube so we'll make do with what's out there

Macelleria Mobile Di Mezzanotte is great. Thanks for linking to my uploads :p

Not sure i know what you mean by that...?Are you referring to MB or something or...?

anyhoo...doesn't seem to be much love around here for this stuff apart from 1 or 2 dark souls like me...shame really, all the triplej and pop/chart music threads are really dragging this joint down.Nobody is posting much in the way of interesting new or diverse music.I'm almost hanging out for a smasha/madtiger prog thread, might as well go slit my wrists while i'm at it.

Here is some interesting (to me) music i came across more recently. It's called Neige & Noirceur.A mix of dark ambient, electronics and atmospheric black metal.I think it is actually just one artist, and it isn't Neige of Alcest/Ameseours fame. The material is comparable to Trist and Darkspace, which is why i've put it here instead of the metal thread.Might link it in there as well anyway.

Nah, I meant I uploaded Macelleria (Those vids) to youtube is all

hah...no shit?i stumbled on them by accident.Good stuff.

I asked you for recommendations a while back on LFM and you weren't too forthcoming bro, could it be you're sitting on a treasure trove that you're reluctant to let go? ;)

I know there's a few Black Metal bands/albums whose names escape me at opportune times :D I keep those cards very close to my chest.

Music is serious business

Haha, well that doesn't immediately spring to mind re doom jazz. I always considered it far and above Power Electronics.

true, but i did come across it in my doom jazz wanderings on the intertubes

you know what i hate?finding something decent, then going to discogs or MA and seeing that the band has a discography the size of Texas.I hate that.

lol yeah it does get annoying. Alas, always better to just DL one or two rather than an entire torrent.

But Macelleria does carry a slight jazzy tinge, always reminded me of and old dank jazz bar full of 30-40 somethings, air filled with smoke and a near naked woman dancing on stage.

His best two albums are Black Rubber Exotica and L'Ultimo Vero Bacio if interested.

Heaven to me bro!

Perhaps Howlin' Wolf up on the stage, and a classy girl at my side.

Now,to find a Jazz and blues club in Adelaide....yeah right :o

La Boheme has a quaint charm, gets a bit jazzy more often than not. On Grote Street opposite Coles (36ish I think?). More of a chilled cocktail bar really, but a cool place.

Is that near Her Majesty's?

You're in Adelaide?I didn't even know.

Next time you're having lunch in the city or dinner on thurs/fri/sat nights, try Jam The Bistro just off Gouger street (corner Wright st. and Field st.).Tell John or Claude that Deano sent you. It's my cousins joint.Best food :)

I think an old school blues club could be an earner, the problem is then finding the artists.Basically you'd have to get people over from the US on a regular basis,so it's unrealistic.

Not sure if this is the right thread but I have been listening to Caïna. Mostly experimental metal but traces of Dark Ambient. I have been rather impressed.

Mate i've got a million bands you'll like if you like Caina. That is if it's the same Caina i listen to - Temporary Antennae etc.He is actually in the black metal to post black metal to dark ambient/shoegaze crowd, similar to the path Alcest took. You might like those Neige et Noirceur songs i posted
