Darker Dees Fly True Colours

IMAGE is everything at Melbourne, with the club tinkering with its guernsey to return to dark days of the past.

Demons chief executive Cameron Schwab is not content with the colour of the club's home jumper and is working closely with sponsors and manufacturers to give it a darker edge.

Schwab wants the Demons to play in a navy blue slightly less severe than black and a blood red, closer to the colours of the club's most successful era

I like this.

I like it too. I just want to see the club take a harder stance towards clash guernseys. If we are bringing back our vintage drak naby blue, make sure we wear ALL the time.

Although I don't mind the current red and blue, going back to our successful roots as we are embarking on a new era would be great.

Just as Dez! said... I like this. :thumbsu:

This is gonna be awesome if they get it done. With a really dark navy blue and a blood red V, who wouldn't be intimidated. Returning to our roots with our true colors, this needs to be done. Can't wait tbh.

Good to hear. I don't mind our current away strips though. Let's not turn into Collingwood and be snobby about only wearing one jumper.

Having blood red and navy blue will be great though.

I would rather be snobby like collingwood than have to wear a white clash jumper. I reckon it's great that the pies fight to keep their famous black and white stripes.

Yeah look it would be great if we didnt have to change to a clash stripe but unfortunately there are only so many color schemes around and it looks like noone is willing to wear pink on a regular basis (north did once didnt they?) so someones got to bite the bullet and wear the clash top.

It has to be the away team.

I honestly hope that one day that a Collingwood player kicks to an opposition player in an important game because the Pies refuse to change their stripe and that leads to Collingwood losing. It's pathetic that the AFL let them continue to flaunt the rules like this.

The irony of that is that Collingwood changed their jumpers immediately after signing Adidas as their apparel and boot sponsor- notice how there are three very prominant stripes down the front of both Pies tops... never used to be like that...

check out www.footyjumpers.com and have a look at the collingwood jumpers of the past....particularly the jumper that looks like an out of shape chess board....eddie mcguire is full of shit

I don't know why the Pies complain so much. Their glash guernsey that's mostly white with black stripes looks much better, in my opinion, than their usual one.

I'm excited about this new jumper. I may even go out and get one...even though my last one was only in 2007 for the 150th year.

Just with our one, I reckon it has changed too much. Was happy with the newlook white on black in 2001-2002, but ever since, it has been slowly moulded into something else, and doesn't look anywhere near as good.

Unfortunately, this guy won't be lining up in it this year though.

Now all we need is a collar.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a collar lol.

Other then that, looks awesome i reckon. Hopefully the jumper is made and we get to wear them next year. Will look even better in silk (or whatever you call the fabric they're made out of these days lol)

any more news on whether the dees will do this? i think it would be a great move to go back to the dark dark blue and blood red from the old days as the MFC is having a 'rebirth' as sorts with the infusion of top level young talent.

definetely support the collar. time for the MFC to make headways into branding the team as the traditional club. we are too modest for our own good

Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere, was looking for a relevant thread, but is it me or are we still running around in a pink-ish shade of red? even the Melbourne logo with the trident and football and that looks more pink than red to me.

I thought the whole point was to go back to a darker blood red kind of colour. I recall Schwab saying the first newer style guernseys didn't have the right colour a couple of years back, but it seems to me nothing has changed on the shade of 'red'.
