I would've said Andy Lovett, but this year his kicking has shown to be less effective than I thought it was.

Davey, only because his kicking is better.

He's not stronger and neither of them rely on strength as part of their game. Being faster is redundant in comparing the two. It's a marginal difference. I don't think he's a better kick either, he's just kicking the ball better at the moment.

Lovett is a better mark of the footy. But they play different roles.

Davey is a better player in nearly all aspect. the difference is marginal but it is definately there. Has had a 1 year headstart though.

Haha,

Davey easily.

Lovett has been good but Davey is a match winner and that alone gives Davey the nod.

Davey by far.

:)

Davey is a good footballer and a good bloke.

Lovett is a good footballer and a poor bloke.

how is he a poor bloke? sure he is a bit arrogant n all but that doesn't really constitute a poor bloke on its own...what's he done?

Come down to the next Northcote park game and if you are lucky to see him, have a chat and you will find out.

I played in an under 17's final when Lovett took this mark standing on some guys head. Having said that, Davey is one of the best small forwards in the league who can win games for his team. Lovett has a go, but is nothing special. (Even though he took that mark)

Both blokes are guys you love to have in your team creating that spark and energy, both have been awesome in parts this year and both have been quite comparable, I wouldn't say it's that easy to seperate them...

I went for Lovett cause of bias but at the end of the day I'm glad to have either :D

Cracked up at the dude who said "I don't think Davey is a better kick he's just kicking the ball better"

Um, wouldn't that make him a better kick?

This is a non-contest, as the results show. Davey has been improving steadily his whole career, shows leadership, great bloke for the club, and just exudes everything I like about AFL football.

On the field, I'm yet to see the player that can really shut him out of match entirely. He only needs the ball with some space on 3 or 4 occasions a game and Melbourne usually win. It's hard to keep a guy out for a whole game, but if you want to stop Davey's influence, you need to not let him get it at all.

Not to mention he's the best defensive forward in the game.

I did say at the moment, so don't be too selective in your quoting. I don't think Davey is a better kick than Lovett when they are at their best. IE Lovett was kicking the ball just as well as Davey was in 2005.

Unfortunately Lovett, like Essendon is playing without a lot of confidence and he's missing a lot of shots he was kicking last year. He couldn't miss last year.

So yes, Lovett is just as good a kick as Davey...but Davey is kicking the footy at the moment. IE In better form.

The thing that has impressed me about Lovett this year is that his willingness, his hunger hasn't decreased. His work rate has actually increased, despite being low on confidence and not at the peak of his powers, he is working very, very hard. He'll come out at the end a better footballer for it.

But Aaron Davey is a gun, got no problem with Andrew Lovett coming second to him. Very happy with Lovett.

I tihnk you'll find Davey's kicking last year was pretty 'meh' at goal, hit roughly 50% of his shots on goal, this year he's improved.

I don't think it's as simple as 'at the moment' either, Davey was training his arse off all pre-season trying to improve his shots on goal. Davey has improved again on last year, just as he did from 04 to 05.

Not taking anything away from Lovett either though, they're both great players, but I think Davey is better.

I think Davey is probably a better footballer as well.

I don't think he's a better kick of the footy though. And it's got nothing to do with what happens off the field. Lovett works hard as well. He just isn't playing with confidence at the moment and it's effecting his kicking at goal.

Although, I do believe the ability to have an impact on matches (as Lovett is doing) when you're not at your best is a strength in itself.

fair call, he is a pretty special bloke, he could get away with murder

That would be amusing.
If it wasn't the 433,476,432,001st time it's been used on BigFooty.

And I know, I've counted them.

Try being a Melbourne fan with Colin Sylvia :( .
I'd take Flash, but both are very good players.
