I didn't even know this had started, let alone the aussies are down 2-0.
I tink my comment about Klein playing was spot on.
Hewitt usually plays brilliantly for his country but this time he has pulled off an amazing choke.
Aussie tennis is dead.

Below is a list of players that have 25 or more Davis Cup singles victories. It's not complete because I couldn't be stuffed going to every country's page:

err...yes. he did thx to Funkalicious for the confirmation :thumbsu:

Ok. I was not aware that Klein beat Luczak. However, I am pretty sure that Luczak would do a better job than Klein if they played Davis Cup. There is a massive difference between seniors and juniors. Winning the Junior Aussie Open does not guarantee an easy ride to seniors. It is a good platform though. Klein is playing good tennis and that is good for Australia. I think though, that beating Luczak once does not meen he will do better than Luczak. Luczak beat Hrbarty at Memorial Drive. I don't think Klein would've. It depends on the situation. Players can have off days or very good days. There have been numerous players who have been screwed, thinking that they have what it takes to be a very successful pro (top 50). Donald Young is a good example. He was the world number 1 junior. He turned pro early and now is struggling to make any impact on tour. He's languishing in the satellite events. Sidorenko... struggling as well after winng the Aussie junior Open. Lets hope he is gun though.... been a lnog time since we have had a good prospect come through. Last one was Todd Reid who has failed misserably.

Yeah fair enough like i sed i wasnt 100% bout it either...and yeah obviously juniors ro davis cup is a massive leap and Luczak would be the better selection and yeah lets hops this kid can be a star one day :thumbsu:

Aussies belting Belgium in the doubles

Germany, USA win to set up 2-1 leads, Austria keep the tie alive with a doubles win

Looks like 5 sets in France as they go for the tie, Swedes down 2 sets to 1 trying to wrap up the tie.

That was an extremely enjoyable doubles match. Hanley is a joy to watch, and Hewitt played exceptional. Lleyton really was impressive out there tonight. Hanley was the general though, always in command and he knows exactly what to do. They played with great variation; plenty of lobs, angle and deft touch.

Well we’ve got one rubber back but we’ll need to win both reverse singles matches tomorrow if we’re to advance. There is no doubt in my mind that Hewitt will force a 5th and “live” rubber.

Cmon Australia! :thumbsu:

But Guiccione is s..t so it won't matter!

Sub Luczak in then. They'll sub out Vliegen for sure I reckon.

Every other rubber is at 2-1 BTW. First time ever that has happened going into day 3.

Waske/Kohlmann (GER) def Ancic/Ljubicic (CRO) 6-4 6-2 7-6 [7-5] (GER 2-1)
Bryan/Bryan (USA) def Dlouhy/Vizner (CZE) 6-4 6-4 6-4 (USA 2-1)
Gonzalez/Massu (CHI) def Safin/Andreev (RUS) 7-6 [7-3] 6-3 6-4 (RUS 2-1)
Lopez/Verdasco (ESP) def Allegro/Chiudinelli (SUI) 7-6 [7-5] 6-7 [7-3] 6-7 [7-2] 6-1 12-10 (ESP 2-1)
Mergea/Tecau (ROM) def Clement/Llodra (FRA) 3-6 7-5 7-5 6-7 [7-3] 11-9 (FRA 2-1)
Mirnyi/Voltchkov (BLR) def Aspelin/Bjorkman (SWE) 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-3 (SWE 2-1)
Knowle/Melzer (AUT) def Acasuso/Prieto (ARG) 6-3 6-7 [7-2] 6-1 7-5 (ARG 2-1)

His first two sets were some of the best tennis he’s played for quite a while. He hit a staggering 24 winners in the second set alone and some of them were amazing. He was two points away from winning in straight sets when Rochus was down 0-30 serving at 5-6 however Rochus fought extremely well and made Lleyton work for it.

You’re all heart Lleyton, another terrific win. Absolute legend.

Congrats Lleyton, you narrowly avoided another monumental choke. At least your mindless followers will still think you're a genius regardless.

Thanks to Drummond for the late-night comedy re: "You’re all heart Lleyton, another terrific win. Absolute legend.". Pure unintentionally satirical gold.

Yeah  have people forgotten he lost to "Vliegen"??? Just not good enough otherwise we'd be through to Round 2.

How bad are Chile? Lost 3-2 at home to Russia. Gonzalex lost Day 1 to 147th ranked Igor Andreev yet pumps Safin in straight sets on Day 3. Nicolas Massu then loses to Andreev in the deciding rubber. Poor effort.

You idiot. Any match that you play in Davis Cup away is going to be tough. It was a superb win.

Guccione is a dud. Big serve but the rest of his game is not even pro level.
