With all the speculation pointing to O'Keefe and Hall seems like Nick Davis has flown under the radar somewhat.

I know popular opinion is get rid of him but I'm still hoping he is on the list next year and has a refocus.

Anyone have any news or suspect he will be a thrown in, in a trade deal.

With O'Keefe likely to leave I'd like to see someone remain with a chance of kicking a few from about the 50.

I agree. I cant help but think that Nick Davis still has alot to offer. He still is reasonably young and with O'Loughlin and Hall getting older and our lack of younger forwards then i think Nick Davis may still be needed.

Awesome another fan :thumbsu: Careful supporting him too loud round here though.

I have a lot of faith in Nick and believe he should be given a permanent FF role in 2009. Give him a chance to own the space 10-40 metres from goal and see what happens.

I've suggested to a Coasters fan on another forum that they trade pick 36 and 52 for him. With their priority picks and no more potential delistees than is typical, they don't really have much room on their list for those picks anyway, and will probably use them to trade aggressively, especially for another option forward to feed off the crumbs of the budding McKinley/Kennedy combination up forward.

Or, as others have said, we could just keep him, and stick him at FF. I'm not all that fussed either way, but if he's taking a spot in the senior side that Vespa would otherwise fill....

O'Keefe can slot them from 50? Could have fooled me. Goal kicking is pretty much the only flaw in his game.

Anyway, Nick Davis is done. We need to move on.
Vics game. He can slot them from 50, it just doesn't happen all that often, lol.

Well yeah, he can slot them from 50 when there's zero pressure in a game that means nothing. I remember watching that game, and I remember seeing him lining up to kick that goal and thinking "Just watch, he'll kick this one, for once."

davis is only going under the radar because no one expects a big trade for him

i would love for him to stay than be delisted by the club

but however i reckon the club will offload him for a dud pick (probably one we're not even going to use)... so he can continue his afl career

I think this should be a great option forward IF ROK leaves.

If Ryan leaves we can move Barry to center half forward moving up the ground creating space leave Mick e o in the goal square with Nick and pat taking the crumbs or offering hard strong leads as both are great marks for there height so shall be hard to match up on Hopefully Moore can move to the midfield next year his ability to break a tackle for his size is only second to Gary Abblet.

If Rok was to stay I personally think Nick is going to be moved on.

Davis is under the radar because no club wants him including us. Fancy coming out mid year and saying you want to play for another club? Geez, if we can get ANYTHING for him we should be grateful. I will be very surprised if he is still here next year. I honestly don't know how he even rocked up to training the sessions after saying he woule play for West Coast "next year."

Wow some positive Davis vibes I'm not used to should be an interesting week next week for sure.

Spot on. He's had enough chances. No room for Nick Davis in a group that needs to move forward together now IMO.

Davis is a great kick for goal and a match winner. They dont grow on trees. If he can get his attitude and body right he is a must have. I hope he stays on the list.

Nick Davis under the Radar ???????

Nobody wants the clown thats why.

We still need to clear enough room on our list for rookie promotions and new draftees! It will be a choice of the selection panel between Davis and a committed young player.

I will be surprised if Davis is still on our list next year one way or another. He has done his dash.

Nick Davis is gone. Think about it, Rooseys top picks in last years and the year before have been small forwards who can do Davis' job (Veszpremi and Daniel O'Keefe).

They've been mids who've played in the forward line because they don't have the stamina to play in the midfield as of yet. DOK is a true mid and Pat won't be wasted in the forward line, he's too dynamic for that. Midfield for him next year.

Vez probably will be - hopefully will be - a true mid in the future but it's unlikely he'll develop the tank over one pre-season to be able to play there next year. He'll either spend most of the year in the twos, playing in the middle, or as a small/medium sized forward in the ones.

And given DOK has been injured for most of the last two years, it's hard to see him being able to play as a senior midfielder either. He'll probably be happy if he gets himself fit and snags just a handful of senior games.

Mase's point is valid. Spots on the list are at a premium. Barry and Crouch might have freed a couple of places up but they're both playing on. So thus far the only "outs" are Matthews and Everitt. The Swans have hinted at a "few rookie list elevations". Murphy and Smith are probably both in with a good shot. Orreal and (I hope) Bruce will/should get second years on the rookie list. O'Dwyer could get promoted, retained or cut. It's hard to know which. They've tweaked the rules this year so that a rookie elevation counts as a draftee. So a club can get away with picking just 2 players in the ND. But it's hard to see the club doing that given the supposedly depth of this year's draft.

So if you assume two rookie elevations and just three players to be selected in the draft, that means three more spots have to be cleared on the list. O'Keefe could be one, but Lovett might take that. If O'Keefe stays and they still get Lovett, that means an extra spot needs to be cleared.

Who are they going to be? Take your pick from (in no particular order) Laidlaw, Brabazon, Grundy, Barlow, Schmidt, Thornton, Brennan. And Davis. It's hard to see anyone else they'd give much thought to chopping, unless they get really ruthless and Fosdike happens to be off-contract. A few others might be seen as trade bait if another club wants them but couldn't see them delisting others. And even Schmidt I'd be surprised if they just plain cut.

How many would pick 3 or 4 from that list above and not include Davis, given there are others who can play a similar role, he's 28, and unlike most of the rest of those, he has little scope for improvement?

Delist: Laidlaw, Brennan and perhaps Brabazon. Just because their younger doen't mean their better. Davis has proven he can play the others has shown little.
There is too much obsession with youth, just because someone is younger doesn't mean they are/going to be a better option. We need GOOD players and not pick young players for the sake of it.
Davis is 28 not overly old. There is no reason he can't be part of our next build, if we can build a side quickly as Roos would hope he could still be here next time we challenge. If he is keeping a young player out of the team they're not doing enough to overtake him.
