If Brisbane don't put up a decent offer, i reckon hold onto Beams.

Worst case scenario, it all goes to hell and he walks, we get a compo pick of probably around 8-15 (optimistic) depending on how bad we are next year.

A lot can happen in a year. Id be wiling to take maybe a pick 10 instead of pick 4 just to send a message to the rest of the comp, players and members that we aren't going to just role over

There is no Compo pick next year!!!!!!!!!!!
He is not a free agent until 2016.

He can walk to the draft the same way Luke Ball did and we get nothing!

Aish + 4 for Beams + 28. Completely fair, make it happen Hine.

They are trying to create a culture of young players remaining at the club after last year.
Unless Aish requests the trade he will not be a part of the trade.

The gist was that the Brisbane supporters told us that we were getting pick 4 and crisp that beams was going into ths PSD next year and we told them to get stuffed. It went in circles for 20 pages.
At the risk of continuing the circle, I'd rather we lose him for first round compo next year than get screwed by Brisbane if they want to use his family situation as leverage. F.star.star.K em

How do you get a compo pick for someone who is not a free agent?

I get the annoyance directed at Brisbane from some here but does anyone honestly believe that Collingwood will do anything other than what it sees as best for its own ends? The club couldn't give a fat rats clacker about Brisbane or what it gains or loses. It's all about getting the best compensation possible for losing a player who is highly regarded and was seen as being one of the planks of our future success. Both Brisbane and Collingwood are aware that the risks attaching to holding out too far are too great. A deal will be done and I think that whatever the outcome it will hurt us more than them. That's just the cold reality of a player wanting out.

Stop reading bigfooty yesterday evening, log on this morning, Dayne Beams thread has advanced by 20 pages. Did I miss anything?
Entire Collingwood board got sucked in by a couple of Brisbane trolls. Became fixated by the idea that Brisbane will only ever offer pick 4 and as a result got itself needlessly incredibly angry at Brisbane and their supporters as a result.

This is despite nearly all Brisbane posters agreeing that the Lions will have to offer a fair deal and Brisbane's list manager saying pick 4 was the offer "at this stage".

If you are only going to get pick 4 for Beams in the end, Dean Warren would have offered a second rounder in his interview today.

Don't panic - read the play and the ambit claims for what they are. Both clubs have to look like they are fighting for the best result for their respective fanbases. It's just posturing.
Spot on mate, when it comes down to it it is simply business. The buyer try's to get the product as cheaply as they can and the seller wants as much as they can get.

The two clubs will find some common ground, of that I have no doubt.

If I was Brisbane I would be saying exactly what they are saying to the media as what they are now. They need to be seen as a strong club by their members who only ask for the fairest deal possible. Not dissimilar to the stance taken by the Pies.

Pick 4 and Mayes or get out the hell out of here.

If Brisbane aren't prepared to give up that for one of the games proven elite midfielders then they've got rocks in there head.

Mayes at present is nothing more than a promising second year player, playing for a bottom 4 side who's worth is seen as greater because he was taken within the top 10 in the 2012 draft.

Beams in his second season was good enough to force his way into a team that won the flag.

Pick 4 (5) could become a boom selection in time but could also be a complete bust.

Mayes is the same.

It's a fair deal, especially for Brisbane.

This is what Brisbane / fans need to realise.

A high draft pick for our second best player doesnt cut it - pick 4/5 could easily be a bust (or a jet) but we need a top quality player that has shown something (Aish/Mayes) to get value for Beams.
The quality player is the trade, the pick is the sweetener that gets the trade competed.

Therefore:
Beams for Aish (Star for potential star) + Pick 4 is the difference in the gap bw star and potential star

Not going to speak on behalf of others, but that stuff doesn't bother me.

The posters that grind my gears are those that come on here and tell us Crisp is in your top 3 or that we'd be lucky to have Lester.

I think the club should consider pick 4 and Josh Green. It's probably a little unders, but we are not blessed with any GENUINE small forwards, Green is a Tassie boy, and has won multiple games off his own boot. We also haven't topped up our ranga stocks since Johnno and young left. Brisbane supporters thoughts?

For what it's worth Eddie said this morning that both Beams and his manager want the Pies to be compensated fairly in a trade and he still thinks it will get done if all involved are sensible, but it may involve a third party.

Interestingly, when asked by others on his show whether there were "any other factors" invloved in his request for a trade Eddie responded that it doesn't help that a big fat contract has been offered to him by Brisbane.

Oh ok thought he would be at the end of next year. So then we'd either have to have another go at trading him or he'd walk into the draft and we'd get nothing? Neither seem like good outcomes

Wouldnt that be illegal if true?

Yeah, that is totally fair enough. I'd definitely be taking what a couple of Brisbane posters here are saying with very large grains of salt. They are simply trying to yank your chains.

Go close to swapping him for WHE. Future gun
Seem a lot of this kid live and on TV. I'm not a big one on comparisons but this kid has a lot of Daisy (early years) with a bit of Fyffe thrown in written all over him.

He will be an exciting 200 game player.

On an endnote to all those that say he needs to put a few kilos on....it won't happen for him and he doesn't need them.

Joel Patful has requested a trade to sydney with GWS the likely club, looks like GWS will be the 3rd club involved. I would personally love Sheil, but his manager made it clear yesterday he would be a GWS next year. I would inquire about treloar, devon smith and hoskin elliot

Yes, apparently negotiations between BF Collingwood & BF Brisbane have broken down.
If they cannot come to an agreement, then the actual Football clubs themselves may have to sort this out.

If its about QLD then we can definitely discuss this with Gold Coast as well.
I go there for work all the time and it is only 50 mins or so drive from Gold Coast to Brisbane.

IF Dayne and his Manager really want us to be fairly compensated then I am sure if the deal is better from GC then he will agree to go there.

Pick 4 alone will not get this deal done. Draft picks are hit and miss and Dayne Beams is HIT not even close to miss.

On a personal note, I know a couple of Brisbane supporters and they are complete muppets.

The flipside is that even without venturing onto your board no doubt the equivilant thread comprises of some Pies posters claiming Beams to be the second coming of Christ and following that up with Aish + 4, FTW!
