Gunn has a lot of goodwill, but geez, he appears to be making the same mistakes by stacking Legacy with other characters and not focusing on each character individually. Appears to want to shortcut his way to an 'Avengers' movie just as they did the first time round.
I understand the questions this continues to raise. For me I’m not overly concerned about the number of characters being cast/confirmed.
I recall similar eyebrows being raised when the same thing was happening with The Batman (in particular, people wondering how/why there’s Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin being included and whether that’s too many etc). Much of that became much more relaxed when the 3 hour runtime was announced, and it all worked together fine in the finished product.
Much of what I’m hearing suggests something similar for Legacy. If Gunn wants a 3 hour film he will get it. Of course that presents its own challenges and we’ve seen the likes of Snyder get carried away and try and jam 3 films into one. On this topic however, I think it will be okay in the end.
The other stuff being mentioned, brand damage, audience apathy towards DC, confusion with what it’s being rebooted and what’s not etc etc, that’s where the major questions remain for me.
