Always liked him...starting to love him which I like as after Richo left I was wondering if you guys would keep my 2ndary affection's. He's an out and out champ and wish you all the best.

He is very very fast making me a huge fan. I am willing to give this kid all the time it takes for him to become elite. It will happen. :thumbsu::)

Jack Riewoldt (and I don't want to jinx myself here) is starting to really show superstar qualities. It's really exciting.

And hows the atmosphere when he's in a one on one now? Place just starts to buzz!

He's a very strong lad and looks like he's bulked up a fair bit since he started.:thumbsu:

The cats out of the bag. He will get a lot extra attention now, even bigger reason why we need Astbury and Griffiths playing, even Polak would be handy up forward.

Exactly, that's why we can't rely on Jack to kick our goals all the time. We really need the other forwards to step up and support him. Maybe they should also bring back Rance.

Hopefully Polak and Griffiths will be back next week.

I'd rather Astbury playing in the forward line over Polak.

I would also like to see Astbury play in the forward line more often. At least Hardwick has acknowledged that our forward line is our weakness so I am hoping we see Astbury up forward from now on.

+1 TT

Been saying for years he was the best tall in that draft and that Miller had pulled off a real coup getting he AND Polak in a year where we only had a mid first-round pick.

The game that really sealed it for me was the one at the Championships where he kicked four and helped Tassie home by kicking the sealer in appalling conditions (was against NSW from memory). He just had so much heart and will to win, his hands were amazing in the conditions at ground level or in the air, you could tell beyond any doubt he was a natural with a great football brain, and his kicking with the wet ball was superb.

Weaver wouldn't have a bar of it, doubt he would have taken him with a 4th/5th rounder he was so damning of his potential.

Weaver has a very smart football brain, but he really got that one wrong.

lol miller pulled of a real coup. what a joke.
miller himself had said he did not expect riewoldt to be there at 8. so in effect by trading a fantastic top 10 pick in number 8 away he in fact gave up any hope in getting jack. and you sugar coat it into a coup how funny.
he did that so he could big note himself targeting a very ordinary and deficient polak who had done nothing and still hasnt. thats right polak was another coup.

mate we can count our lucky stars we have riewoldt because miller did everything in his power to sabotage it.
that was the trouble with miller instead of good management it always came down to luck with most things he did.

Well considering we traded pick 8 then that would be poor management Darth.

Another terrible decision by Miller trading down 5 picks to get F***** Polak WTF.

So lucky he fluked it and he actually said that they wanted him at 8 and were suprised he was still there at 13....thank god that guy is out of our club.

How much more attention can he get then he already does? It's not like teams are playing their 3rd or 4th defender on him. They generally play their best defender plus a loose man. If a team can afford to have more than 2 players on Riewoldt i would seriously be questioning our other 17 players on the field.

....that said griffiths and astbury will just allow Riewoldt to be more potent which is what im looking forward too.

When Jack went down with an ankle injury in his first game for Coburg they brought out a stretcher as he couldn't get up. He screamed 'theres no ****ing way you're taking me off on a stretcher!' and hobbled off without it :thumbsu:

The kid has been likened to Dermie more than his cousin, don't worry about him crying ;)

that's awesome!

That's close to the biggest load of tripe posted on BigFooty.

Miller and Jackson after the Draft camp and before Trade week, clearly ranked all the the top 20 and realised that they had a better than 80% chance of having Jack available at 13. It was a planned, calculated risk to Trade pick 8 for Polak and pick 13. The draft yielded the RFC the 2 players they wanted excluding the top 6 or so which we knew we could not trade up into.

Miller had his flaws, but he could plan and scheme as well as any of them. This plan came to fruition. Your inability to acknowledge any of the good that Miller did, blinds you and de-values many of the balanced views you have.

But we got Jack

Agree in hindsight that it was risky downgrading 8 for Polak. To be honest, at the time, I wasn't that familiar with that particular draft to have had an opinion without the benefit of hindsight. I was undecided at the time if I wanted us to take Polak. Realised he hadn't achieved a whole lot til then, but was of the opinion he had some potential.

My thoughts exactly. I think it's a result of the gameplan that we are able to find Jack in dangerous positions to use his talents to score goals as often as we do. Players drawing defenders up the ground, and then quick ball movement into the forward line makes it a lot harder for opposition to double and triple team Jack.
