:)

Wrong

Deledio was by far the best of the 4 this year, with Gibbs coming in 2nd. He won the B&F over Richo who was superb this year, had 24 disposals a game (and we all know how well he uses it) along with 28 goals.

We all know Deledio's disposals have a low hurt factor for 2 reasons. Firstly his decision making is average, and secondly his kicking a bit hit or mess, He played mainly a wide uncontested sweeping role in 2008. A great stats year, but average in terms of effectiveness. Just doesn't have anywhere near the footy smarts of the other 3, and would be lucky to have 5% of Gibbs talent. Will be a valuable contributer for the Tiges, but not in the elite category unfortunately. :)

Richmond fans are a joke, you all know everyone will vote against Carlton because we are more feared/hated. So don't think it means anything when you win a BF poll ladies.

All valid points. But to be fair, at least you got rid of Miller, although 3 years too late. Now Deledio.... He's just the odd player out in this 4. WATCH the guy in congestion - he ain't that great. Doesn't anticipate well, and relatively slow to react. Best in space, and especially fast over the last 50m of a 100m straight line run. A good footballer, but never elite. I rate Grigg above Deledio EASILY. Comparing Deldio to elites like Murph and Gibbs is just silly. :)
you mean petite dont you. the way sqibbs gets scared of big mean men like milne

im sur he is the only player at carlton to shower with his shorts on.

always bitter in defeat:rolleyes:

This is becoming like a broken record. I wish I had a dollar for every time I have seen some of the game's elite players pull up short on occasions. I would certainly never go 'hungry'.

hmm, tough one.

i'd rate them in this order:
1-gibbs
2-deledio
3-cotchin
4-murphy

can't split 'em. all will be fantastic players and all have enough potential to win a brownlow one day.

I would say Gibbs > Cotchin > Deledio ~ Murphy and I would take Carlton's duo.

Murphy has become very underrated on here. I've been watching some old games and when he played forward against the Tiges in Round 1 he was incredible. Ran Newman off his feet, took some strong grabs and most of all his kicking was superb. Well-weighted & always to a man in space. He lacks height and pure speed but his kicking deficiencies are far overblown IMO. I rate Deledio very highly but with regards to Murphy, while he has much greater athleticism, he doesn't quite have Murphy's creativity or smarts.

As for Gibbs.... a lot of people rate him now but there are still lots of trolls... all I can say is... just watch :o

murphy ruins it for carlton. its one way for richmond.

Yeah you are right mate, he struggles does Murph. Only 540 touches this year, in what, his third year, with a pathetic 11 brownlow votes, and a runer up in the B&F, in front of a 99 goal full forward!

LOL, yeah he sure ruins it. lol

I rate Murphy ahead of Cotchin personally, but Deledio is the pick of the pack, and miles ahead of Gibbs.

Shhhhh, dont let the truth get in the way of a good yarn mate! As for the Gibbs/Delidio comparison, I agree Delidio marginally at the moment.

He's a good accumulator, no doubt about that.

I would go

Cotchin>Deledio>Gibbs>Murphy

And that's no disrespect to Gibbs and Murphy, i just think Cotchin and Deledio are better than both. Deledio's had a super year and Cotchin is all class despite an interrupted season/pre-season :thumbsu:

Agree 100%. Still can't beleive we took Vickery over Ziebell . When are Richmond ever going to learn? Giving other team teams top-shelf talent like they're lollies.

Deledio's way over-rated on this board imo, and is undeserving of a B & F simply because it's too hard to judge in such a crap team. Will never move out of the half-back flank, unaccountable and soft.

Cotchin's way over-hyped, and needs to do something before he gets credit. Lacks penetration in his kicks and isn't quick enough to break away from congestion.

Looks like another 20 years of heart ache Tigers fans... :(

What a load of absolute dribble!!!

Watch these before you comment on Deledio's "low hurt factor".

...I'll just let the results of the thread do the talking.

Deledio (the package...smarts, athleticism, skill, penetration, ball winning ability, marking to kill, line breaking and the after burners)
Gibbs (smarts, evasiveness, not as much penetration on kicking as Deledio, skill and sometimes awkwardness)
Cotchin (only has had one season, looked alright, got some skill (times this year bit hit and miss), real smart, acceleration, not as much penetration on the kick as Deledio, evasiveness)
Murphy (slowness, proven hit and miss player, downside kicking, upside ability to read the play, real smart player).

All will be good, but Deledio is the only one I can so far say...'will be a superstar'. And I never think Murphy will get there! ....Gibbs and Cotchin a little more time, but both have great potential.

At the moment (and I believe for the next 10 years) Deledio (the package)> all of them
