Would be a great acquisition for Hawthorn.
Would Hawthorn offer that up for Brown?

I agree but because he has nominated St Kilda, surely we won't be listening to other trades. It's either work it out with St Kilda or he stays because he's under contract, isn't it? It's not like we have to give in and do a shit trade.

mitch brown to hawthorn for pick 21 and shane savage, then give 21 to collingwood for wellingham. keep 17, and offer second rounder for pears or lynch compo. Then in the team we get two mids, and another key defender.
So by your logic, Brown is worth more than Wellingham?

Gibson > Brown. Hawthorn have Gibson, Schoenmakers, Gilham and Stratton (not so much a tall), I doubt they would need Brown as well as that would force someone out.

Sad to see Mitch go, however he is still contracted so that means we hold all the bargaining chips. A first rounder would be required I'm sure, if we get that, I'm sure Wellingham will be easy to deal for. Ideally, if we could get Pears to replace Browny that would be good, one for one, injury prone key defender for another.

Going to be an interesting couple of weeks for sure but I daresay we will have Cripps and Wellingham at the end of it.

Gibson, Cam Wood, Brock MacLean, all proof that trades have nothing to do with a player's objective worth and everything to do with how desperate the club is to have them.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule, generally when a club is stupid enough to include a clause in their star forward's contract that requires them to trade him for a second-round pick when he's a high flight risk.

just have to wonder how brown is going to cope with the gf in perth with the fever and him being with the saints.

possibly a netball blockbuster trade too?

Not sure you can call Mitch Brown an injury prone key defender and expect a 1st round pick at the same time?

Also haven't Hawthorn publicly stated they are chasing a key defender (i.e. Lake)

Send brown to gws for the mini draft pick. Still doubtful that's its happening though.

+ to preferring to keep Brown rather than recruit Wellingham.

What are some possible trades if Brown goes?

I can't see how the saints would want to pay what we'd need to receive to let him go?

I'll try to guess a possible trade for the sake of it:

Brown and 58 for Cripps and 35?

Still don't like it. But I don't expect Saints fans to like it either.

That is true, but it seems as if his injuries are subsiding slightly, particularly this year. If he had of had another restricted year this year I wouldn't have bothered looking for a first rounder.

Interesting development that could lead to a loophole in FA.

The Bombers received the Power's third-round pick at this year's NAB AFL Draft (No.48 overall) in a trade for the 25-year-old.

It is a good result for Essendon, after it lured St Kilda free agent Brendon Goddard to the club last week.

If Monfries had left the club through his restricted free agency status, Essendon would not have received any compensation because of the net gain of Goddard.

Now Port also get to keep their compo pick for Pearce by not reaching a FA agreement.

I wonder if you'll see any odd trades where a good player is traded for a trash pick (60+) in order to keep the compo active for both clubs. Something to watch for IMO.

Yep, for Hogan, make it happen. ;)

Haven't thought about that.

What's the reason why Brown wants to go to St Kilda and St Kilda only?
3 year deal and presumably $$$$$. They also want to play him

Pretty important, but Mitch Brown isn't the only available key back you know

Any others you are linked to. Your interest has been rumoured for over a week now. Must have made an offer to him to get him to come out and ask to be traded. Can only imagine Saints have earmarked what they would be required to offer.
