We will not be getting more than a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Brown. It's debatable whether he is even of AFL standard. Even Fremantle in their heyday would not have been dumb enough to offer a 1st rounder for him.

The following players should be thrown up as potential trades:

Beau Waters
Scott Selwood
Matt Rosa

We wouldn't get jack shit for Rosa but the other two might generate some interest from clubs given their inflated reputations.

If Woosha remains at the helm, then no doubt no meaningful trades or list changes will take place.

21 i would take but only if Glass stays and we put Schoey back in the backline and then maybe start Mcinnnes as backup FB for when glass retires..
yep there would definitely have to be someone to fill browns role, whether its Mcinnes or a trade/mature age draftee

Would our 3rd rounder most likely pick 36? Be enough to secure Mitch brown and would Adam selwood entertain a FA move to gws?

No chance of any of those players being traded unless they want to go. Rips the heart out of a team if you just sell entrenched players off as though they are mere bargaining chips. WCE doesn't do it.

I wouldn't take pick 36 especially if there were others interested as there may well be. Adam Selwood you can have, has run his race as a player here, don't know whether he would be interested or would rather retire gracefully and contribute in other ways over here.

I'd like to think not (re: Brown), would depend on what St Kilda are prepared to offer given they were into him last year, if a few teams are chasing it might drive the price up a little. Would be more likely to trade Brown + our 3rd for your 2nd pick?

As for Adam Selwood, many on here (myself included) don't think (or want) him to go around in 2014, so if you made him an offer it might end up similar to the Lynch to Collingwood scenario.

GWS should have picks 1, 11 and 21. 21 seems more likely.

edit: pick 20, forgot about Adelaide.

If GWS offered pick 20 for Brown, WC should deal. WC need such a pick to build the midfield. Brown is meh. Some decent midfield talent should still be on offer at pick 20. Also, WC could develop a better CHB from either McInnes or McGovern. At least those two can kick a football and take a decent grab. WC shouldn't be putting their eggs in the Brown basket. He's not good enough.

Not a good idea to build a defence around two guys who have barely played any defence in their career

Not a good idea to build a defense around a guy like Brown who has played and shown he isn't good enough. Both McInnes and McGovern have better attributes than Brown. What Brown has on them both is superior athleticism. I'd take the chance. WC need better than a known player who's meh, for a KPP.

If Glass can be persuaded to play on next year, it allows time for McInnes and/or McGovern to be played at East Perth at CHB, with the occasional fill in game due to injury for WC. This should be enough development time to play the role, considering that by 2015, both McInnes and McGovern will have been on the Eagles list for 3-4 years each. They'll be at the stage to step in at AFL level. Btw, McGovern prefers to play as a defender rather than as a forward.

Yeah just when I was sort of coming around to thinking he was alright and playing decent, that Hawks game was really annoying. Dropping two uncontested overhead marks on the half back line for a player with his experience is just really ordinary.

MacKenzie says 'hi'.

Was drafted as a defender wasnt he?
And had least played a couple of years in defence before becoming our CHB
At the moment, and for the next few years Brown will provide more at CHB or KPB than McIness or McGovern because he has played there at AFL level before

Mmm, would people think that a first-round pick would be Brown's worth considering where we are at now?

with GWS drafting from the cream of youngsters instead of trading away alot of picks for senior players ,these picks this year mean nothing to GWS now and will be used to get mature players like Brown to help the youngsters .
So pick 11 may be overs but no point for GWS getting a 18 yr old that won`t be ready for 3- 5 yrs to hold down a KP.

People on here have it all wrong. McKenzie replaced glass as our full back a couple of years ago. Brown is our CHB and scofield is our glass replacement. If Brown goes we need a New CHB to be starting 18 as glass is no longer capable on the power forwards and scofield has always been suited as a third tall.

The demand for Boyd could prove very interesting given there will be other clubs in the bidding. I cant see Carlton offering as much as you have suggested, and deals that involve contracted players have a propensity to turn horribly wrong.

The Blues will be active, they have a surplus of rucks, first year after a new coach arrives and some players will move.

Any Yarran interest?

GWS saying pick 1 is open to be really throws some possibilities open.

With Darling, LeCras and JK up front we don't really need another tall forward, but if we could somehow get ourselves involved in trade that would involve getting a really classy midfielder that would be great.

Obviously there is going to be another 17 clubs recruitment teams around the country thinking the same thing so competition will be tough.

Not disputing they could be active. Simply suggesting it is highly unlikely that Carlton would offer Kreuzer AND Yarran for Boyd. I know that they require a key forward but IMO that offer is too much regardless of what Roos may say.

How bout Mcgovern for Yarran...fair trade?
