Barlow has been magnificent, earned his spot through hard work in the VFL, even played in a (albeit losing) grand final.

I just think that a 28 year old is not needed at Richmond in terms of future goals.

I was looking at the list of delisted free agents earlier and was amazed at some of the names clubs will essentially be able to pick up for free. The following eight players would be significant upgrades on the battlers/plodders/duds we still haven't moved on yet...

Xavier Richards > Elton
Josh Green > Lambert
Cam O'Shea > Batchelor
Ricky Henderson > Grigg
Will Minson > Maric
Jack Grimes > Hunt
Matt Dea > Morris

How many can we bring to the club?

Get what you are saying, but most of those guys have a contract for next year.

Agree with this and at one stage he was almost at an A grade level. The reality is I want to see a rebuild for the first time at Punt Rd since Hafey took over around fifty years ago and we should all know what happened afterwards

Two things. Cuture and value add and they are just as important as quality and youth.
It is the sum of all things and there is a place for blokes like Barlow at all clubs regardless of what stage of development your club is at.

What the **** are you on about.... Marcon and A.Moore are not on an afl list. 6 of those listed are 21 or under of course they are still on an afl list their kids. Lambert won't be for much longer, most likely delisted end of next year. Conca will be on the injury list all year next year you can take that to the bank, so hardly on the list when your not available for selection for more than half a year every year. Who the **** cares about Barlow playing a couple of wafl games......relevance to anything. Comparing Barlow to any of first 8 is just ridiculous, 2 aren't on our list and the other 6 are younger than him by 7+ years

Two things. Cuture and value add and they are just as important as quality and youth.
It is the sum of all things and there is a place for blokes like Barlow at all clubs regardless of what stage of development your club is at.

Barlow will be 29 at the start of the 2017 season.
In terms of culture, he would almost be detrimental to the culture because if he is getting senior games, he could potentially be quelling the development of a young inside mid, such as Vlastuin.
Recruiting Barlow doesn't get us closer to a flag. If he is unwanted at Freo, and no one else wanted to trade for him, I believe that is saying a lot.
I'd much rather we pick up Jake Barrett and he can learn off the likes of Dusty.

Not all of them are rejects. Green and Richards didn't want to re-sign. Would go for Richards as is an upgrade the likes of Bachelor, Elton who are list cloggers.

I asked a Swan mate who is a footy tragic (South Melbourne supporter) about Richards. Reckons he is soft and glad they got rid of him.

Unless Barlow is completely shot I would consider him. We got one or two good years from Steven Sziller (!) and Barlow is a much better player. If we are talking one or two year time fame then I can live with it. If we are talking other delisted players on a longer time frame then why didn't we trade for them with pick 120 or something?

O’Shea, 24, pre-empted the October 31 deadline for AFL delistings by announcing his own axing on Sunday morning.

“Thanks for the good times (Port Adelaide Football Club) loved the highs and lows of the past six years. Looking forward to what’s next,” O’Shea wrote on social media as his career at the Power ended at 35 AFL games. His next chapter could unfold at St Kilda.

O’Shea, who played 13 matches this year, spent six seasons at Port Adelaide after being a third-round draft pick (No. 52) in the 2010 national draft.

2016 was average , before that more than respectable , and plenty of games >20p , only 24yo. I'd be looking closely at him

Richards should be the only one we are talking to from that list, I'd also have a word to Jake Barrett who was delisted by GWS, the rest of the list for me are either too old or don't offer enough of an upgrade to worry about.

barlow yes, richards yes, josh green is a small forward whilst lambert is a mid..., cam o'shea not sure, LOL grigg is much better, dont need another old has been ruck, anyone is better than hunt, would look stupid to bring him back after we dropped him

I'd say we didn't trade for them as you don't know who else will be delisted at that point.
They would want to assess all options after clubs have cut all the players and pick the best available to fill any needs.

that should read we got one or two good games from Sziller. Here is the thing though. Blind freddy would understand that including Barlow into our midfield would immediately enhance it, the dude is a smart player and doesnt levae anything in the tank, but like others are saying, we literally mask the reality of where our core is in terms of development if indeed we do pick Barlow up. Now if we are talking the same type of big picture plan that we have just concluded with, the one that Dan stated was purely to suck peoples dicks to part with their cash, with no flag in sight then yeah lets get Barlow and ****, pick up Petrie and Spud Firrito too and we will make the 8...and from what I have been hearing with the upcoming AGM and the announcement of our financial position coupled with the projected back lash to thiis year diabolical debacle, re. performances on field, recruiting wise and at board level....tipping we are going to go the quick fix route to once again fool the slumber party into parting with their cash...
