The League don't have the resources to input each clubs points, although they do have the ability to do so. It is left to the clubs to complete this.
There was corrections to be made to some of our players & it wasn't until you made the point last night Richard that it was realised that this task had not been completed. A situation of the 2 parties not realising that the necessary amendments had not been made, so it was adjusted at club level.
Nothing sinister in it.

How foolish would a club be to make an adjustment with the League approval?

& Yes First Division is looking in great shape this year, although I do fear the frontrunners will be dominant & not only in the short term.

I find it astounding the EFL have no input.. But do they check to make sure that clubs are doing the right thing??
Of course it is foolish but I can see a club "accidentally " getting their points wrong if the EFL don't have the resources to police it.

Every club must submit their points to the League a couple of weeks prior to the commencement of the season. These are then audited by the League & then sent back to each club who then update the points within the sporting pulse database.

At some point the League will match their audited set of points against those input within Sporting Pulse. There has been instances where clubs have queried an opposition clubs/players points with the League.

The League are constantly monitoring the points & do police it.

Please Cliff I had Richard all over me last night, lets not head back down that path. Would much prefer to talk some footy for a change.

With next week off, I will most likely head down & have a look at your boys next week Cliff.

Unfortunately won't be there as I have a mothers day weekend away. We might be a chance. I sure hope so. Last time I went to FTG was in the mid 60's, it was real trip to the countryside back then.

I believe the EFL has released a document on the competition structure for moving from 4 to 5 divisions has anyone seen it? Or got comments

Surely if it is brought in we would be looking at season 2019.I am fairly comfortable with 5 divisions but worry about the teams going up a division at the end of next season (presuming it is the same in 2018) especially the D2 premier making the big jump to D1.

Perhaps we should be looking at raising the points for a team going up to,say 50 (now 47) or a team promoted to D1 is allowed 2 years to consolidate in that division if they wish. The 2nd bottom team is relegated if the promoted team finishes bottom and accepts the option of having another go in D1.

You obviously are thinking Mitcham may win Div 2 GMac and want to give them an advantage.

I have heard they are keen to have a 'premier' division of 10 teams and that the bottom three teams from division one will go down a division this year and the division two premier will enter the 'premier' division.

Not sure if they are looking at four divisions or five but if only four would be a 12 team division two comp.

So what do you think if they go down that path?

Your concern regarding a big jump to Division 1 at the end of 2018 may not be a anything to be overly concerned with.

Raising Points - interesting thought. There is a clause with the rules to allow such discretion. We went from Division 3 to Division 1 in 3 years, but not many would have supported an increased points level in our case. Not sure there would be a stronger case though, so I don't see it happening into the future.

Win D2 next season under the current system and D1 a 10 team competition in 2019. With no graded draw not sure Bob about that one for the D2 premiers.Same question to you, which way should the EFL go with a 12 or 10 team grade.

What if the second bottom team is in their second year of consolidation? Wouldn't they also get to choose whether to stay or go.

The principles of the change do have merit. Really doesn't matter what I think in that it is happening it is just a matter of when, highly likely 2019.

A reason to go to a 10 team grade is to lose the weighted draw, which can create unevenness. The points system has also been introduced for the same reason, so I can't see that being manipulated for a select few due to adjustments within divisions.

Not playing this week...........

Potentially worse news, has one the high profile recruits lost his zest for the game?

Farran ray has left balwyn.

This has been known for a few weeks now. Heart wasn't in it, and gave very little.

Suddenly the high profile recruits are now only the Simpkins, with the losses of Cavka & Ray. Couple this with current injuries and the retirements of some keys & we see why they have battled to this point. They have also had some depth eroded with the appointment of a past player at Templestowe. Still have many good players on the list & some will start filtering back, but the unbeatable aura has somewhat diminished.

Battling to get a 2's side and U'19's on the ground in the 1st couple of rounds where the 2's did not score one game is a worry for them to but good to see the 2's win a game lately.

The obvious answer to that is no,why.Finish bottom both years and D2 you surely head.Pretty sure many out there would disagree with my thoughts of the promoted team given the option if they finished bottom 1st year in and they wanted to stay up, the 2nd last team gets relegated though.

Will be interesting if a 10 team 1st division is brought in season 2019 for the D2 premiers of 2017.3 teams will have to be relegated after season 2018.

I'm more interested in the coming Sth Croydon v Vermont game. Should be a very good indication of the improvement at Sth Croydon.
There is no doubt south have improved last year. the recruits have been very impressive . this game is good timing to see how far up the ladder they can progress.
It would be good for the comp if sth beat them as Vermont look to be a short priced favourite for the flag at this early stage. Reserves are yet to lose as well which is important
