Yeah we know how clearances work, do you?Well of course he gets clearances when he's 1m away from the person winning the ball waiting for the handball receive.
Do you not understand how clearances work?
Good on him for being ranked 26th for contested possessions I suppose. One day he may rank alongside contested beasts such as Brodie Grundy, Jye Caldwell and Jacob Hopper.
Happy for him that he managed to average the same clearances as retiree Matt Crouch though.
Something we can all finally agree on![]()
Errr NO
Hang on....But apart from Neale in 2023, the previous Brownlow winner who wasn't top5 for contested possessions or clearances was Dustin Martin in 2017 #FACT
Lol I did not say thatYou said he got better every year but he had less Brownlow votes this year than in '24 so, by the very metric you keep attempting to flaunt, he got worse.
You're all over the shop.

So go ahead and explain to me how Daicos has averaged more Brownlow votes than any other player in the history of the game? The Champion data stat relates to the Brownlow winner always being high in winning contested possessions:
In regards to average CP's from those with 20+ games:
Rowell: 3rd (Daicos 30th)
Cripps: 1st
Neale: 8th
Cripps: 3rd
Wines: 3rd
Neale: 4th
Fyfe: 1st
Mitchell: 3rd
Martin: 7th
Danger: 4th
Over the last 18-seasons the Brownlow winner was top-8 in Contested Possession averages.
Naicos was 30th in 2025 which is very very low.
For midfielders who averaged 20+ disposals in 2025, his CP% of 36.7% placed him 41st of 56 players...so near to the likes of Gulden, Bailey Smith, Pendles, Callaghan...so really playing predominantly as an outside receiver as opposed to inside contested player. makes sense as ball use and decisions making is his strength, not the really hard stuff inside.
Ex-Carlton players, who were knocking down the door to play anywhere other than Carlton.Who'd want to play for those cry-babies?

The misery of the Saints, must really hurt hey buddy?![]()
It's a bizarre line of argumentSo go ahead and explain to me how Daicos has averaged more Brownlow votes than any other player in the history of the game?
Is he THAT good, that he continues to accumulate votes despite not having the attributes that umpires are attracted to?
Wowee!
Yeah.Ok, so no Brownlow for Nick yet then?
Glad we cleared that up.
Also if he were a 'new level of elite', he'd have polled more votes this year than '24, not less.

Would be a good comparison with Reid / NaicosYeah.
Pathetic of Nick not to exceed 38 Brownlow votes per year, each and every year.
OMFG.
Or Sheezel.Would be a good comparison with Reid / Naicos
which player has more votes in their 1st 2 years
You left out Ed RichardsOr Sheezel.
Or WAshcroft.
Or Darcy.
Or NWM.
Or Callaghan.
Or any other player in the competition who has apparently gone past Daicos as a player...
#Ed17You left out Ed Richards
Yep, first effective possession to clear the area. Standing begging for a 1m handball means Daicos gets the clearances as it's his possession that clears the area. He's not the one winning the ball at the contest.
Hard to argue with that analysis.Think we can all agree now that N Daicos is comfortably the best player in the comp and the Pies would be mad to do a "rebuild" when we've still got at least 10 years left in the Daicos Window
7 of those he'll be playing for Tassie though?Think we can all agree now that N Daicos is comfortably the best player in the comp and the Pies would be mad to do a "rebuild" when we've still got at least 10 years left in the Daicos Window
Watch some footy and then come back to talk to us...Yep, first effective possession to clear the area. Standing begging for a 1m handball means Daicos gets the clearances as it's his possession that clears the area. He's not the one winning the ball at the contest.
Also, LoL at AI slop. It doesn't understand the rules properly. For example, it thinks the PSD affects a club's FA compo.
I read it differently, ie the guy doing the 1m handball gets the clearanceYep, first effective possession to clear the area. Standing begging for a 1m handball means Daicos gets the clearances as it's his possession that clears the area. He's not the one winning the ball at the contest.
