I wouldn't say very good over the last few years apart from Crisp (although he struggled late last year). Howe, Elliott and DeGoey have had a lot of injuries.Pendlebury
Sisebottom
Elliot
Crisp
DeGoey
Howe
That's 6 off the top of my head and Cameron over 30 but playing well, those 6 players have been very good over the last few years and now you'll have to find 6 more to make the same impact as those 6 in the next few seasons. Maybe there's 2 or 3 on your list that will step up but that's all guess work. Maynard 30 next year as well, not all of them will play to they're 35/36
Pendlebury has lost a lot of his midfield time over the past few years. Sure he has had his moments and he can come in for bursts. But overall he has already been replaced by Daicos, DeGoey and Long. Even players like J Daicos, Perryman and McCreery have been getting alot of his midfield time. I think it is his last year and he will be missed more for the leadership then the on field role imo.
Sidebottom is similar to Pendlebury but he has probably an extra year. He is being phased out and hasn't generally been elite for a while apart from a few patches.
Elliott has about 6 players who can play his role. Maybe not at the same level but still well enough. Has a 2 year contract. Even DeGoey can step in and play a similar role if needed.
Crisp has 3 more years or more imo. He is very versatile and can play half back, mid or wing. We haven't played without him for 10 plus years. So I don't know who directly replaces him but we certainly have players like Roan Steele and McCreery who look like players who can play on the wing or in the midfield.
DeGoey to me looked great at the end of the year and has come back early this preseason to train with the 1-4th year players and looks over his 2024/5 injuries. He should be good for another 3-4 years if we give him a bit more forward time. In 3-4 years time he steps into Elliotts role as that hard to match up forward.
Howe is pretty much done imo. Its his last year. He struggled a bit last year, but we have a lot of back flankers who can play a similar if not identical role. McInnes is one that was preferred before his ACL injury. So long term he is the man if we can get him fit.
