Tryin to quit. Down to 2 a day.

Never understood how some people can smoke a pack a day tho. Having 2 or 3 every hour. I'd end up with a **** of a headache.

One thing I dislike about smoking and smokers is the ones that think that because they have an addiction they have the right to take a smoko every half an hour.

Yeah annoys me a lot as well... Hate when people start using the term smokers rights also

It is actually very relaxing and a good stress relief.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I don't smoke, so I might be) but doesn't the stress relief of smoking only arise because you start craving nicotine in the first place? So if you didn't smoke, you'd be less stressed in the first place and wouldn't need the relief? It's like punching yourself in the face so you can enjoy the relief of Panadol.

You're wrong. Nicotine is going to tighten your capillaries and all its other magic whether you're a smoker or not, and even more so if you're not used to it.

For full on smokers there may be some relief if they're feeling withdrawals, but thats different.

It's a circle/trap you don't want to fall into. Prevention is better than cure isn't just a saying that sounds cute.

House party = social smoking Power King.

Derp.

To the smokers out there that are trying to quit - some of the patches are now available on prescription (and therefore at a subsidised price), as well as varenicline was always has been, so it might be worth seeing your doc.

Fair enough. Play on.

^Your original post had merit. In theory nicotine is a stimulant and as mentioned will tighten blood vessels thus raising blood pressure and stress, however what we see in reality is contradictory in that whilst these effects do occur, in a smoker that is craving, taking in the nicotine will alleviate that stress temporarily. This sort of circle is seen in numerous addictions.

It's also the basis for nicotine replacement therapy LD. You're still getting the nicotine in order to reduce withdrawals. Yes the nicotine is still a stimulant, but the 'stress' the body would endure without the nicotine would outweigh what it is whilst someone is on nicotine replacement therapy. The smoker's perception is also crucial.
