I'm a smoker myself and without sounding hypocritical (too late) I'm suprised at the amount of people who still smoke, somewhere between 1 in 5 and 1 in 6.
I worked in a service station for two years, and it surprised me just how many smokers there were. Alot fell into certain groups as well.

Tradies were highly represented (usually smoked winfield blue, sometimes PJ), those of ethnic extraction (or wogs to be less PC, usually smoked dunhill blues), Asians (marlboro gold/lights) and suits would smoke B&H (although a lower proprotion of them smoked). Chicks smoked sky blues and marlboro generally, and the occasional indie kid would get Styvo's.

This at a place that charged over 15 bucks for Winfield 25's, before the new tax on cigarette packs. Obscene

Unfortunately i can't seem to have a few beers without lighting up. It's funny coz throughout the week i don't even think about smoking, but as soon as i'm at the pub friday arvo i'm buying a packet after about my 3rd beer.

Same here, doesn't bother me during the week. Come drinks time and I'll spark up a couple, and really enjoy them too.

Have been known to smoke a pack in a weekend, though that's in the past and went hand in hand with other stuff.

Serious question, what do you enjoy about them? They taste horrible and the relaxing hit you get only occurs if you were stupid enough to get addicted in the first place.

Taste is subjective, i think they taste good. You may not and that is your opinion which you're entitled to.

People who bang on about smokers are just as bad as vegans who rabble on about their beliefs and try and project their thoughts on people who eat meat.

I can see the appeal, somewhat. Though I don't believe they are anywhere close to worth the negatives.

I'm not one to go around screaming at people for smoking, but I'd certainly be talking to my mates if they decided to do it regularly.

I gave up the cigs but still have the odd cigar. Two small packets since Christmas, I think.

I'd recommend buying cigars instead of tobacco if you're one of those people who likes a social smoke with a pot of beer. The aftertaste is so disgusting, next day you won't want any more.

Try not to inhale.

Great way to pay through the arse for life insurance as well.

They actually don't take that into account.

Everyone else pays for the smokers, it's called adverse selection.

My Mum is a heavy smoker (carton a week), can't stand being around her when she's lit up, the smell of it disgusts me.

Tried one of her smokes when I was about 14, the foul taste of it nearly killed me.

Don't smoke cigarettes, but i probably smoke about the equivalent of two or three cigs a day.

I really hate people bitching and moaning about it though, grow a set and suck it up.

Bawww Bawww BAwww it smells funny and makes me cough, Bawwwwww.

I enjoy the occassional cigar - say one every couple of months. Not sure where this stacks up here

They taste great to me, when combined with booze especially.

smokers who don't try and quit can go DIAF, that's if the cancer dosen't get them first

Grow up.

No because they make me unfit, age my skin and smell. Other than that i really love and miss them :) ;)

so you outlined most of whats shit about them so why would you miss them... there are zero positives to smoking

why?

Most of my friends smoke, all of them tried to convince me to try one when we were at a stupidier age. These days I am quite used to the smell of them but will never smoke one myself. Almost all of these friends have tried to quit at some point. Some are doing well, others not.

Personally though, I don't think it is my responsibility to try and guilt my friends into not smoking or anything like that. They have their life choices and I will help if they want to quit, and I won't if they want to continue (ie: buying them ciggies).

some people don't want to die of second hand smoke exposure :thumbsu:

you have the right to smoke, but you should respect other people's wishes to not be exposed to it

grow up

not just that...its just so invasive of other peoples space....i hate walking down the street or sitting at a train station and getting a face full

You'll have to show me some scientific proof that passive smoking kills.

There is none.

I try not to blow my cigar smoke into other people's faces out of courtesy; but because of the smell, rather than because I might kill them.

Smoking can be a great way to unwind and relax, especially when teamed with a couple friends and a beer. Being a non smoker i'm not expecting you to understand but at times there is nothing better than sitting down and having a few cigarettes with friends and having a chat, it can be quite social. It is actually very relaxing and a good stress relief.

Totally agree, nothing like lighting up to help relax after a crappy day, find it works better than anything I know.

Biggest gripe in life though is people who whinge and moan about smokers, especially when we were there first. If you don't like move elsewhere, if you want to complain to me expect me to blow a lot of smoke in your face.
