I actually think we can, but probably won’t. I think we have a list that can get us into the top eight, but we need a lot of things to go right from here and that’s the tricky one.

We will definitely beat the Blues than Port after the Freo game, Im 100% confident about that.

I had us finishing with 13 wins.

I think it important to remember that if we had beaten Gold Coast, we would be writing this off as a poor performance after a big week/5 day break etc. Peatling and Soligo were well down and were in the top 6 players of last week. Losing Murray and Rachele was pretty unfortunate as they were accidents, not injuries.

Were 3-2, probably getting to 13-10 if we can get a couple of road wins against Sydney, Bulldogs or Collingwood. We can probably write the Hawks in Tas game off in advance.

We'll need beat the sides like West Coast but also need some upset wins over Collingwood, Hawthorn, Brisbane, etc. The win over St Kilda in R1 felt like a bonus, was a really great effort that game.

I think if Adelaide handle every situation that comes at them this year properly, then they will make finals.

But one of those situations will be "do we need a new coach to keep the finals run alive?" and I think they will pick Nicks and ultimately miss finals as a result.

North Melbourne away (who would be on the beach last round)
Melbourne home.
No excuse to lose to any of them though still sceptical about Melbourne given our recent h2h and their big 4 could always turn it on.
So that is 8 wins.
Breakeven in the Showdown as anything could happen.
So that is 9 wins.

Carlton home (I still think they could be challenging)
Brisbane home
Gold Coast home
Hawthorn home

Being conservative and say we split 3-3. If we go 2-4 or worse at home, we simply do not deserve to make finals/
So that is 12 wins.
Then just need one away win out of Fremantle, Collingwood, Sydney, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs.
13 wins with a healthy percentage.
We really should make it. I am annoyed we have potentially wasted a chance to make top 4 with our list and we will scrape into the 8 and extend Nicks.

Making the finals should be an absolute minimum (and a low bar at that) for Nicks to be allowed back in the building.

Our Management and Board will give him every opportunity to do so this the season (to save their own asses after that stupid contract extension last year).

This week is going to be a very, very interesting litmus test. Dawson has come out in the media saying after the last quarter meltdown against the Cats, defense will be all the focus this week...

So we can expect the same negative, slow, complete rubbish we saw the first four weeks of last season? Wow, that's going to be something for us supporters to look forward to next week against a skillful, well coached GWS team (again).

If by some chance we do make the finals, it's in spite of Nicks, not because of him.

If we don't make the finals, to save their own asses our Management and Board should show him the door this time.

I'm very confident that we will still make finals. However, I'm not confident we'll make much impact once we get there. I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish 5-8th and then get bundled out in week 1.
