I thought WC stood for West Coast, then I realized I was mistaken.

I also watched and attended our H&A games when we were shit in the late 90s and early 2000s. The fact we're not in a Premiership window has nothing to do with my disenchantment with the AFL. I've posted many times, even during our Premiership years how I've lost interest in what the AFL has done, and had been tuning out of non-Hawthorn games.Bet you watched all the H&A game replays from the premiership years though didnt ya?
Yes its probably an unfair comparison given the once in 4 years naturenot a lot of clashes.
I had the hawks game and the WC running saturday night. Mainly keep tabs on the AFL score as the game wasn't very good and the Aus v Fra game was.
But given the choice, i'd probably watch the world cup.
once in 4 years event vs an annual 23 round season league.

I'm still watching our games this year and last. Just World Cup is a much better competition to watch.
i will also say, watching Ronaldo now and Eriksen tomorrow night, the superstars of our game have nothing on the superstars of the world game.Yes its probably an unfair comparison given the once in 4 years nature
Tomorrow its all about v Denmark
Anti Dusty commentsi will also say, watching Ronaldo now and Eriksen tomorrow night, the superstars of our game have nothing on the superstars of the world game.
Final series aren't played in June/July.So if the WC was on the same years HFC won the flag you’d be more interested in soccer?
While i dont share your opinion - I think the world cup is the best sporting competition- i respect your views. I for instance tried out watching rugby league even going to the first ever state of origin held in melb in mid 90s. But league leaves me totally cold.I dislike soccer no matter what time of year it is. I know we are probably all sports fans, but it still surprises me that a sport happening on the other side of the world that we generally suck at as a country could take people's interest away from their weekly pride and joy in the AFL. Ah well.

I'd happily pass up watching a live H&A game for a World Cup game. I can watch the replay/highlights of Hawthorn later.
I saw a tweet that asked the question “would you take 5 years of your AFL club finishing bottom if it meant the Socceroos beat France?”
I wouldn’t even take Port Adelaide losing one game if it meant the Socceroos winning the World Cup.
It took place back in march in vietnamWhen is the World Cup and I assume Australia are favourites.

They're not mutually exclusive though.its not a comparison of the time of year when they’re played. That’s a complete deflection. It’s a like for like. It’s cool you’d prefer to watch WC soccer over a premiership winning season from the hawks. It’s cool bro, just your preference. Weird for an AFL footy board but ok.
They're not mutually exclusive though.
This would be my priority if there was some clash.
Hawthorn Final, World Cup featuring a team/player I like, Hawthorn H&A, other World Cup match, Neutral AFL game, watching grass grow, watching Carlton.
