A token effort is better than no effort.

No. It actually is not. It is the worst thing in the world. It wrecks workplaces and destroys friendships. It is an horrific experience working next to someone or under someone who is going through this. The stress is unreal for absolutely no beneficial outcome.

It's also totally impractical in the circumstance. Would have been wonderful telling Harvs he's not our man for 2013 only for Lyon to go on to sign with the Saints.

So let's sum this thread up.

We've got a hysterical Rockingham housewife, who is an admitted Freagle and turncoat supporter, who got on the chardy and made a complete idiot of herself in here and on the radio.

A wet behind the ears nurse who was so incensed that she joined a pathetic protest and made a massive tool of herself.

A Uni student from Brisbane, whose intentions maybe pure, but whose emotions get in the way of his logic.

And Reg. Well what can you really say about Reg, apart from the fact that he is well on his way to following his 4th AFL club since our inception. Just piss off back to Dockerland and enjoy the circle jerk.

Seriously. People who have little life experience, have never managed a company or business, have an axe to grind or simply cannot overcome their emotion and petulance when faced with hard, cold logic and business sense, should really refrain from posting about this.

There is not one single thing wrong with what the club or Lyon did in the circumstances that they found themselves in.

Emotion and hand-wringing sentiment have NO place in major business decisions.

Dry your bitter tears. Harden the F*** up or just piss off and support another sport. Because if you think this was bad, then just wait until Free Agency comes in.

Agree totally. Anyone that has worked for long enough has been given the arse. And in most cases, I'm sure they'd be much much worse than in this instance.

The question still remains to be answered:

What could the club have done to do the best by the club and at the same time limit the fallout from this?

It's just complaining for complaining's sake.

Because those who are, seem to be hiding behind their support for Harvey, and not wanting the best for the club. That's really the issue.

Most of us like Harvey. But I think we would have been shattered if he was still coaching us in 2013. He was clearly out of the running for that, so I just can't see any logic or reason at all in this line that it was the wrong thing to do.

Well at least Jeff has the balls to speak his mind unlike your 2 back stabbers.

Mate, if you want to make a total fool out of yourself, all well and good,

But you might want to reconsider doing it on here. You will find no love or pity, only people who will pull your pants down and make you cry.

Try the bay for the lulz.

I think you are the one being emotional, and getting nastily personal against your fellow supporters. WHo have every right to have an opinion on this.

This has been played out in the media, all clubs are daft when its media central, and not done behind closed doors.

Sad stuff.

All good mothers defend their sons.;)

Tell us all how, in your humble opinion, that this should have been played out.

What the hell are you on about?

Had to laugh at someone saying this has been played out in the media, its just about the only football story of the past 5 years that HASN'T been played out in the media.

But it wasn't played out in the media. They were oblivious it.

Go worry about Brisbane, we've got enough people postulating in this thread without you.

Are you on the right bus ?

Do you have absolutely ANY clue WHAT SO EVER?????

**** me drunk!!!!

It is the exact opposite you numpty!!!

Can you please refrain from abusing me.

I meant. That IF the club and Lyons had of not told the world the time frame of things then it would be fine.

This is in the media. How they went to Lyon a few weeks ago. How he said yep thanks.

Now, sacking is a sacking. harvs would have been shocked etc, but would be feeling better now IF they had not gone to the media within the hour with his replacement.
It could have played out over the weekend. Lyon could have quit the Saints, having signed with Freo, but it not be made public til Monday.

You guys wanted Lyon went after him, thats all fine.

It how shoddy the thing was executed.

You guys need to find some common ground.

Just as we thought.

You actually don't have a clue.

Are you on the tweak? This has been about the only thing NOT played out in the media.
Stop with the grandstanding, moral nuff nuff outrage of what is basically an exchange of senior coaches. You may be happy with crazy vossy ruining the next few seasons for the Lions but looks like FFC want to be a genuine contender.

Business acumen is obviously not taught in Nursing school.

Christ Campbell, I love ya, but you really are talking out of your clacker!

I'm guessing that you have next to no idea about managing a business. Let alone head-hunting, poaching, sacking and the ruthless cut and thrust of executive management.

Stop posting on emotion, send a condolence email to Harves if it makes you feel better, and then come back when you have got a clue.

Have you even thought this through??

We sack Harvey, everyone would know we had someone lined up and it would've been a media circus(it already was for the hour it lasted!)......is it Lyon, Eade, Malthouse, etc, etc??....the media would have jizzed themselves.

The way it was done was harsh but its like pulling off a bandaid.....do it quick and everyone moves on.

By Monday Harvs will be making plans and moving on with his life.....rightfully pissed at FFC but that would've been the case regardless.

Are you on drugs

Seriously,

Do you honestly think the media wouldn't find out we sacked Harvey and Hired Lyon ?

Shoddy, Seriously

mmm. within the hour.......go figure.

All Lyon had to do was wait till today to resign from the Saints. Then sign with you guys and media conference on Monday.

Up until it was announced, within half and hour of the sacking, no one in the media had a clue he was talking to you.So he had been discreat as had your club.

It could have been kept quit imo.

Is that like sending the apprentice to the hardware shop for a long weight ?
