We need to,(and should),pump Port this week and get some confidence back.I changed my mind after the WC game about how down we were.We shouldn't be on the bottom Port should be! They are down and out and after last weeks form against WCE u would hope the boys will continue the effort. I think now we have nothing to lose and should just go for it every week.Play extreme hard footy and crack some heads and have laycock and johns in the square all day.Leave Scotty floating down back and up the wing and give all the young kids a go at ruck roving and see how they go.We have got 12 weeks to come up with some answers on who is going to be our next midfield group for next year.
Bad Luck JJ, u had a great career but just like S.Wowoedin, your pace has left u when u should be in your prime, time for someone else to stake their claim as an EFC on-baller!

Poor, poor ending

Not every midfielder needs pace, Joe Misist survived quite well without it. JJ still knows how to find it, just needs to be a little more fitter, with a good pre-season that should come, and needs to get a bit more confidence back in his disposal.

The difference between JJ and Woewoedin is that JJ goes and gets it while Woewoedin waited for it to come to him.

Need to give them a flogging? Who's to say we're even going to win the game, let alone win it convincingly? We're both as bad as each other so I hope some of you arn't expecting us to go to the Telstra Dome and see a high class mauling, because it's not going to happen!

Will be an ugly scrap that will again raise more questions than it answers about Essendon FC - couple of goals either way.

And if we don't maybe finally some the blowtotch will be pointed towards Essendon and where we are headed. If we can't beat Port on home soil, then that doesn't leave many teams that we can beat.

No excuses this week, and I don't care who the late exclusions are. No excuses.

It's games like these i dread. coming off a great effort last week, our chins are slightly lifted. suddenly the pressure is back on us to perform and the odds are tilting our way and all of a sudden the intensity drops and we expect things to just happen. Hopefully im wrong...

we need to have a 4-5 goal lead at 3 quarter time to win imo, we've been 'overrun/choked' a few times this year.
incorrect. port have won 1 last quarter this year, we have won 5. Until two weeks ago, we were the best performing last quarter team for the year. We will lead Port at 3/4 time, will win the last quarter, and will win the match.

2.4 to 4.2 v pies (7 down at 3/4 time)
4.1 to 7.2 v blues (14 down at 3/4 time)
2.1 to 6.8 v eagles (10 up at 3/4 time)

i am aware of that but we were in winning positions against other teams but let it slip so winning the last quarter is irrelevant.

Our 1st quarters have been good, our last quarters have been good.

We fall down in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

We'll smash Port anyway, no worries.

All we need is two quarters of inspired footy. A 9-10 goal quarter at any stage of the game is usually enough to win it, all we need is for the footy gods to give us a bit of luck and we'll have our first win. We're not that bad, the boys just don't have the know how atm.
Go the two Courtney's!!

Plan A is to win.

Plan B is to lose and ensure that the media focus is on another team, eg. Geelong, who are crap.

We can take our pick now.

Geelong only have WCE @ KP, and Crows and Dockers away in the next 4 weeks :D

And maybe Sheedy should worry about his own back yard, Tigers have won 5 of their last 6.

port is way to good for the dons today, whats worse they got help from the umpires.

The umpiring was bad but no excuses , we simply didnt have a real go . Too many blokes just running around and not giving a stuff.

I was hoping my fears weren't justified but sadly they were. What a terribly game to watch...

Another couple of points. Why was our number one ruckman and captain not playing in the ruck for most of the match when we sorely needed a lift from the middle, and where was gus. He is a proven goal kicker so why not throw him into the forward line and see if he can work some magic? Beats leaving him on the bench.
