Looks like we're in line for some players in the trade period which will help a lot.
If we have to pay for Sanders its really going to hurt our ability to get a decent KPD with ports pick.

Nothing over and above any other club that would be in the same position.

That’s not assistance.

I never said our own picks count as assistance, whatever we get will be in addition to that obviously.

We can ask for whatever we like but what we get will be another thing entirely.
I've seen enough to know how the AFL operates and consistency in decision making is not one of them.

Exactly only had to see what they did last year compared to other clubs that have been where we are now and wonder why we get ****ed over every year and think this year will be any different.

I bet my arse we will come away with the ability to match a bid on Sanders and then next year, post AFL review, every team will have this a ability to bid match again.

We will be seen to have been compensated with a priority pick simply because we get this access 1 year earlier than the others will.

It will be a **** laughable joke..

Yep, if the assistance we receive is the ability to match on Sanders, it will be exactly the same "assistance" the Dogs had in 2020 when they matched on JUH at pick 1 in after playing in the finals the same year.

If the ability to match is brought back only a couple of years after it was removed, it will be more about which teams were unlucky to have potential NGAs available at the wrong time, not sure of all of them, but of note the Dees with Mac Andrew in 2021 and potentially us this year with Sanders.

You just know the usual suspect clubs currently bleating about us potentially getting access to Sanders, will suddenly unearth NGA status for some freak a year later and happily take them, while still carrying on about the injustices of the "compromised" draft of 2023!

on Tuesday met with the League to continue their ongoing discussions on the potential for AFL assistance after their four years of battles at the bottom of the ladder.

It follows weeks-long consultation from the Roos with the League around possibilities on assistance, with the club having last year received a package to help lift its on-field successes

The Roos have been keen to gain access to top draft talent Ryley Sanders, with the club pushing to have his Next Generation Academy application approved.

The AFL Commission will meet in Grand Final week and decide on any assistance given to North Melbourne.

North Melbourne has won 12 of its 84 games over the last four years, with list manager Brady Rawlings

"We've had some informal discussions with the AFL around that," Rawlings told Gettable.

"It's based on our performances over a four-year period now. They'll be ongoing. We haven't heard anything back yet in concrete. I would've thought you've probably got to let the season unfold first. We might win the next three games, who knows?

"From the AFL's point of view, I presume they want to see the season finish and then make a decision from there. Our position is what will be, will be. We think we potentially qualify for some assistance, but ultimately the AFL makes that decision."
