List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

At the same time, it's nice to see someone hold onto something to try and make it as accurate as possible along with filling it with all the information they can rather then trying to be the first to every bit of news - regardless of whether it's true or not as seems to be the case for 95% of the media these days.
At the end of the day it's a two pronged attack: (1) being able to pick talent and (2) being able to make people 'spill the beans'. I'm sure Emma can pick a good player after all these years but her skill is in the latter. But as I said, I don't see the point in releasing a phantom 24 hours before the event. I'm sure her phantom now would be fairly accurate, but maybe she's afraid to stake her reputation on it given that her yearly draft is her calling card.

Hmmm... big problems need the creative solutions only a drunkard can produce...

Lads, I'll get back to you in a few hours!
Update. Im a few beers in and nudity and running still seems a viable option.

None of last year's phantoms were accurate , got a feeling those days are gone as clubs out foxing other clubs will help them get the player they want

Last year Lever the Beaver started as our tipped player, then it went full circle and came back to him. I have a feeling we''' still be taking McKay or Milera @9. Francis would shock a lot, but make us totally stoked!

Hey guys, not sure if it's been brought up already but your picks will slide out by at least two with extra picks being created for Sydney to take Mills and GWS to take Kennedy as their second (after Hopper) pick.

Doesn't really affect who is available to you as Mills, Hopper and Kennedy aren't really available anyway. So your first pick will be the eight pick for non Academy players. Think you should be able to grab one of the highly rated SA guys with the 8th "live" pick and maybe again with your "12th" live pick.

Seems fairly certain that Weitering, Schache and Parish are locks but a bit fluid after that.

No different than most - Francis and Milera, in that order. To be honest, these two and Burton are the only ones that excite me this draft.

Both, however, may well be gone. If so, I like Burton, could be top 3 in the comp elite. H. McKay, Collins. Don't mind Balic either. Gresham and Clark could be very good but feel they probably shouldn't go that high. Ah Chee maybe.

Don't want Oliver, we have ball winners and he hasn't proved to be damaging. In fact he hasn't really been proved against top line opposition. Big kid bullied his way through the second half of the TAC year when a lot of the elites weren't around. Mathieson will be good but with M Crouch already, we can't afford another mid with terrible endurance and suspect kicking.

Shouldn't give up first round picks on half back flankers which pretty much rules out Tucker, Bonner and Hibberb.

Sorry to intrude. If you formed that view of Oliver you probably didn't see him live. He's very damaging. He bursts from packs and uses it well. He can drift forward and take a mark. He's a ripper. If he's there at 9 and you pick him, be delighted.

Read a fairly big article in The Age today about Francis and his brother dieing from cancer the same weekend he won the premiership for West Adelaide u/18s

pretty sad stuff :(
People either lift from tragedy or let it push them to where they don't want to be. He lifted and more. Made of good stuff. Mallee boy. He'd be a very good get.

What we want,

A versatile kp and a versatile kp player.

What we'll get,

Screwed over in free agency:rolleyes:

Thinking about the pros and cons of Francis...
Pros are his ability to play in several positions, and his athleticism. The fact he comes from really down to earth stock is good for us, but not interstate teams. I'm sure he'd want to remain in SA.
The only real negative is he went to PAC... ;)

Probably more for the paper print - everyone is still guessing in the final 24 hours and when hers comes out everyone gets a very strong idea about what's most likely to happen compared to others that do mock drafts given they do one every week as they're constantly changing it - probably from what they're hearing. Emma on the other hand decides to sit and wait until that final day as her opinion won't be changing.

I don't really bother taking much from current mock drafts as they change so much (as proven by previous years) from now compared to a few days before the draft.

I do understand where you're getting, doesn't really phase me too much and I guess I just like the change of someone not feeling the need to release it ASAP and instead taking their time and making sure it counts with their one shot rather then having 10-20 attempts.

Happy days if our choice at #9 (#13) was between Francis and Milera. Just can't see us passing up Francis though. But even so would be stoked to get Milera too.

Dangerfield for Menzel, Francis/Milera & Gore is a pretty good return IMO.

If Francis goes before our first pick I'm keen on Harry McKay and Balic.

McKay looks bloody amazing to me.

If Francis is still there we have to take him; a mid and tall forward are ideal though.

the ones most linked to us

I wasn't talking about who the press linked to us, I was talking about who this forum decides we need to pick and are going to pick - usually takes a few pages, but eventually a consensus forms on someone - to the point of obsession, and I don't recall it being correct outside of the telegraphed M. Crouch pick in recent times.

The press with inside knowledge may have been linking us to Lever, but this forum was set on someone else.

You are forgetting Brodie Smith. Re Lever he was the popular pick but some wanted Cockatoo. Lever was the clear favourite though. Phil Davis had been touted for weeks as well.

And Riley's mum was a big Port supporter. Means nothing once you pull on the guernsey.
That's because his Grandfather Eddy played reserves for Port Adealide in the 1950s. He also has a family connection to Essendon through his other grandfather.
