No they can't.

There's no evidence a different team would do better or worse.

Neil Craig can sit there and say "Imagine what we'd look like without them (oldies)" and we're all left to wonder.

or we could drag out the old "You try and tell them they aren't playing" line

Is there any way to see the full combine results? I hate being limited to the top 10 when comparing something like 20m sprint where the top 10 are all between 2.88 and 2.94

Someone running a 2.95 is still very quick.

I once ran a 2.95s 20 m sprint - right after seeing the biggest hairiest spider in history next to my arm. I was greased lightning that day.

Wouldn't call it depth , would call it A grade KPD talent that they havent got ...the mac brothers are honest but not guns

Jesus your a hard marker mate, Tom McDonald to my way of thinking had an exceptional year with a good balance of defensive/offensive football considering the "poor" side he plays in, was an absolute shining light in their defence.

As you probably know I was very keen on us drafting Oscar McDonald last year, still find it hard to fathom how we didn't take him instead of Wigg when he was still available at that pick, a KPD who had held the two gun forwards in the TAC McCartin and Wright easily, not to mention had also played some bloody decent football up forward in the TAC Comp when swung forward. Oscar also did well this year in the VFL ultimately getting a call up to the AFL late in the year and showing plenty of promise something most young KPD's don't achieve in their 1st year on an AFL list.

Completely different player , speedy and agile and more outside ...one thing in common is they both take a v good overhead mark in packs and are clean
Yeah figured as much from what's been said - just love how boss of a handball the Port Ah Chee has.

yeah i massively agree re oscar and even more so now given how many small defenders we seem to have on our list

Tom had a great season but still wouldn't be considered in the top 6 key defenders in the league?? although he's knocking on the door if he keeps up his 2015 form...wouldn't surprise if they took another KPD from pointy end of the draft , that is all ...especially given they have had multiple high picks in last 2 years (4 overall)

If we had drafted KPDs with our first two picks last year, I would have spewed.

I'm not sure that this warrants a new thread, so I'll put it here where there is much discussion regarding a player's particular characteristics and their relationship to his worth to a team.

I was prompted by today's revelation that Kane Mitchell won the Power's 3km trial, and thinking about some of our leaders in this division (e.g., VB, Mackay (I think), Kerridge), to wonder whether there is a correlation between 3km success and general playing "spudness", or failing that, general ordinariness? What do you think? No doubt someone will be able to do a full club-by-club analysis. I've always been in favour of natural footballers, rather than endurance specialists.

Today is the 1-4 year players, so if Adelaide were training, it wouldn't include VB/Kedge/Mackay.

St Kilda's was won by Jack Newnes, who is not a spud.
Essendon had one this morning, but had other statements to release.

Having a quick look over some of Dec 2014 results, Isaac Smith won at Hawks (ahead of Hartung & McEvoy), Tendai Mzungu won at Freo (ahead of de Boer) , & Pat Ambrose won at Bombres (ahead of Aylett & Kavanagh - both who have been delisted).

Hard to correlate much from them.

Goody was always up there in the time trials, so too Birdman. I think having a good TT time is important, although I'd place more emphasis on repeat sprinting.

Kane Cornes went all right, on the track and on the field

You do realize with having Cameron and Menzel in the squad, replacing Eddie Betts in a few years is the least of our worries.
Let's hold fire on that until we see if Menzel can even reach Cameron's current level, let alone Betts'.

Not a priority this year, but could be one next year if Menzel can't do the work required to fulfil his potential.

Menzels 2014 was equal to Camerons 2015 as a point of reference.

That said, small forward/midfielder is definitely not a priority for a while yet.
