That's my take on it too, we shouldn't go mid at 13 if the quality isn't thereInside mids. The star inside mids will all go top 10. None will get through to 13. What's difficult to understand about that?

West AdelaideTry reading the post again b4 not answering it ......if you actually re-read what you wrote you'll understandInside mids. The star inside mids will all go top 10. None will get through to 13. What's difficult to understand about that?
2nd best in the comp? LelHe is probably the best 2nd key forward in the comp. Definitely doesn't need replacement.
You better line up replacments for Shultz, Hoff and Ryder by that logic![]()

West AdelaideHe is Adelaides 2nd key forward behind Tex. Does another club have such a good 2nd key forward. Comprehend?2nd best in the comp? Lel
Realistically the only absolutely proven quality INSIDE mid I see being still there at our pick is Mathieson and I'm not sure he has any other attributes that make him stand out from the rest, there is a few others IMO that MIGHT eventually make into contested inside mids with a far wider skill set than Mathieson but that has to be purely speculative at this point.Haha I was also kidding
Oliver looks like going top 5. Milera with our first looks likely, I thought Francis might slide but seems to be going before our pick due to Curnows incident.
2nd pick like you say an inside mid would be ideal but I don't think the quality we should be looking for will be there. Half backs, Collins, Burton etc likely will be. I don't think we need half backs which leads me to think Collins or Burton likely.
Made sense to me mate.1990crow .....Does this make sense to you ?

Dixon will be your best tall forward by a mile. Jenkins > the rest.Sorry I meant replace in a few years, gives the draftee some time to develop as a replacement.
Dixon?
But I agree, seems to be a good balance to have a couple of young forwards coming through at all times.
When you add the previous sentence it does.1990crow .....Does this make sense to you ?

Not one AFL club, not one phantom draft had Lever as anything other than a KPD

I thought it was obvious but I guess I'm going to have to spell it out to you.1990crow .....Does this make sense to you ?

Lol he is probably our only tall forward that has played afl and plays as a full time forward. Pretty easy to be the best.Dixon will be your best tall forward by a mile. Jenkins > the rest.
This is my reasoning. I don't rate Mathieson that highly. No improvement on Matt Crouch. I don't know enough about the other inside mids that will go 20+ so it would stand to reason we don't take an inside mid here.Realistically the only absolutely proven quality INSIDE mid I see being still there at our pick is Mathieson and I'm not sure he has any other attributes that make him stand out from the rest, there is a few others IMO that MIGHT eventually make into contested inside mids with a far wider skill set than Mathieson but that has to be purely speculative at this point.
Shultz? Butcher?Lol he is probably our only tall forward that has played afl and plays as a full time forward. Pretty easy to be the best.
we won't mention the failed Ryder experiment.Ah ok yeah got you. Absolutely top 4-5 for 2nd key forward. He is Adelaides 2nd key forward behind Tex. Does another club have such a good 2nd key forward. Comprehend?
West AdelaideThought you were in the "best available" camp ......not the "needs" camp?I thought it was obvious but I guess I'm going to have to spell it out to you.
Half backs like Bonner, Tucker etc, Collins (not a half back), Burton (also not a half back) will be available at 13. Given I don't think Bonner or Tucker are much of a need given we have a smorgasbord of outside half back types now.. A quality key back like Collins or potential star forward like Burton would be a better option if they are best available.
Schulz is more a lead up forward. Who knows what Butcher will do next year (all the best for the bloke). Hopefully Ryder plays more in the ruck.Shultz? Butcher?we won't mention the failed Ryder experiment.
I am in the best available camp I just happen to think those half back types aren't worth taking over those I've mentioned.Thought you were in the "best available" camp ......not the "needs" camp?
At #13 if it's a toss up, we'll take best available ......i've already posted my preferences there
My fault didn't make it super clear.Ah ok yeah got you. Absolutely top 4-5 for 2nd key forward.
With his size [lack of] I think the big doubt is whether he will be able to be nearly as effective against the bigger bodies in the AFL, very similar player to SA's Will Snelling who I daresay would be getting talked about in the same conversation in the Vic centric media as Gresham if he was a Victorian..13 games for 12 times in bests and 15 goals for Gresham is pretty solid.
I haven't really bothered to look into him, any insight?
West AdelaideCorrect ....Mathieson is Meh & driftingThis is my reasoning. I don't rate Mathieson that highly. No improvement on Matt Crouch. I don't know enough about the other inside mids that will go 20+ so it would stand to reason we don't take an inside mid here.
I think Curnow will still go top 7 so he won't be available. Milera I'm hoping.Correct ....Mathieson is Meh & drifting
That's why if Curnow and Milera are available at #9, which way will the club goes .....Curnow is the better inside option
At #13 ......maybe a slider, maybe Burton, maybe Hibberd or Himmelberg
West AdelaideI agree ....we just traded in 2 HBF players and getting Otten/Shaw gives us plenty of defensive optionsI am in the best available camp I just happen to think those half back types aren't worth taking over those I've mentioned.
