The worry for 17 for me is we could be tapping into the 3rd tier (of what id expect on our list)

Daicis
JHF
Callaghan
S.Darcy

Rachelle
Ward
Hobbs
Mac Andrew
Erasmus
Amiss
M.Johnson
Gibcus
Wanganeen Milera
Sinn
Goater (15)

J.V.Rooyen (16)
Sonsie
Willmott
A.Draper
Chesser
S.Butler
T.Browne

Youd think if GWS take F.Callaghan at 2 then theyll take a tall at 15 J.V.Rooyen unless Gibcus is somehow still available which could occur unless tthesuns take at 5, tigers at 7 or saints take him at 11.

Each to their own but I'm comfortable with getting Chesser at pick 17 particularly if it results in us being maybe able to trade up as well and get someone in that either drops or who we rate highly.

If there is one thing we know it’s that our assessment of talent can be radically different from everyone else’s, so speculating on who we have in what tier is futile.

Our evaluation of Jones was top 10 and we got him at 30, just as an example.

Draper and Sonsie are absolutely 2nd tier prospects to use your system

If you were to put your cojones on the line, who do you reckon has the best career out of Erasmus, Ward and Hobbs?
Id pick Ward personally. But pretty rare to have a top ten where there are three or so mids that seem to be completely interchangeable.

#eDPS you clearly rate Chester higher than most - what is it you see in him that has him so much higher than most?
He was very impressive in round 1 and early in round 2 before he got injured. He is an athletic outside midfielder with good skills and smarts who I think could become a Mitch Duncan type.

You really believe that? If we rated him him top 10 we’ve would’ve tried to trade up a lot earlier than 30.

Sonsie would also be great and fit needs.

Dodoro has said a couple times we had him at 9 I think, believe him? I don't see a reason for him to lie.
Selling a player to a supporter base is an obvious reason for mine.

We likely tried to trade up earlier but those clubs didn’t want to do the trades with us.

If we had him at 9 we ain’t waiting at 30 to pull a trade to grab him.

How could we have got him earlier? I think our future 1st would've been off the table, so the only way to get him was how we did.

I'm not saying we had him at 9, I'm saying Dodoro said that, he easily could've lied.

Does that really matter? pick 9 or 30? The average supporter wouldn't even watch the draft.

All I know is I would be uncomfortable telling lies like that for little to no gain.
Yes I think Dodoro would tell us he was pick 9 on their draft board to make it sound better than telling us he traded up for a bloke he had 23rd on his board.

I highly doubt we went to multiple clubs in the 20s and they all said no. Even where we were at the end of 2019, we were expected to build on a finals performance. So if late in the first round Jones is still available and we had him at 9, you’d try to do a f1 for pick 15-20 and plenty of clubs in that range were happy to trade in the futures market. Half the picks in the 20s were live traded on draft night so clubs were willing to trade.

He said we would have been happy to use pick 10 on Anthony Long in the 2009 draft. He was obviously lying then so there’s a precedent. I happen to believe him re Jones but I understand the scepticism.

It's not a hill I'm willing to die on that's for sure, I'm just happy we have Harry Jones.

At this point I don’t have any reason to disbelieve it.

Ranking him at 9 doesn’t necessarily mean we try to trade up to the 9th spot to take him and giving up the required assets to trade up only becomes viable at a certain point.

Believe he is also on record as having Ridley in the top 8 or so in 2016 as an additional point of reference

So you don’t see a trend? 😂 every player we get were very high on our draft board and miraculously slipped straight to us.

So you don’t see a trend? 😂 every player we get somehow miraculously they were very high on our draft board and slipped straight to us.
It's also possible that Dodoro doesn't have players he knows we can't get like JHF etc on his actual board. So maybe Rildey was the 8th best player he thought would be available to us. Ie for our first pick he has 6 blokes on the board we have a chance of getting etc, so technically Ridley is 8th available for us but not 8th best?
