eDPS back to the national draft. If merrett was to leave and we ended up with picks in the 6-8 range what two players do you think most ideally suit us, I feel like Johnson is the obvious choice but is yet to totally impress in the u18s ?

Josh Sinn and the WA kid, the big midfielder

Sinn is rated top five currently, no? May not be on the board before we can pick. Obviously a bit to play out between now and draft night so things could slide in terms of draft evaluations & also where we finish on the ladder with picks.

After Daicos and Horne I think the rest of the top 10 or so picks are up in the air at this point. Heaps to play out in terms of who is likely available and I don’t think we will get a true sense until late September when the national championships conclude. Just about anyone in my latest top 20 could be a shout or even someone outside of that.

How is my man Draper going eDPS? No one wants to put him near the top but he stays inside the top 10.

Didn’t play this week which I assume is because of injury, I’m really keen to see how he goes at the national champs playing with and against the best kids. Would compliment Perkins nicely as a forward/midfielder his ability to win clearances is Parish like but just lacks the running capacity at this stage to get the ball around the ground as a mid.

Probably. Don't think we need a winger though tbh
I disagree. I think thats where we need someone the most. Ham and Zaharakis aren't good enough, and it would allow Langford to play more of his natural position. We need more quality delivery inside 50. Even if he plays half back that would also be beneficial I think.

What do you think our most glaring hole is?

Midfield would be priority 1 & 2 for me
We've lost 2 starters and we're at the end of our tether for reinforcements.

Ham is fine. He's not going to be a star but he's fine. Langford is a good winger which people seem willing to forget. Nik Cox is going to be an excellent player and play on the wing. Zaharakis is irrelevant.

I'd say our inside midfield and our defense right now.

I agree it would be handy to have reinforcements, but I don't think it'll improve our best 22. If caldwell, Shiel, stringer AND one of McMerrish happen to all be out at once I guess we just have to cop that on the chin. That is unprecedented. Even then, we have Perkins, Waterman, Langford, Snelling, Cox, Cahill, Guelfi, Ham who have shown they can play through there. Right now, our depth is being tested with 3 players of our starting midfield rotation been out and we have played some of the best football that ive witnessed in a long time.
I think midfield depth is not our greatest weakness, and getting a quality winger or half back would go a long long way to making our team a lot better.

I don't think ham is fine. Yes he's not going to be a star, but he isn't fine. He fails to have any real impact on games on a consistent basis. Yes he 'runs all day' but for what? 10 touches? He really doesn't cut it, and we will never be a serious contender until he is not in our best 22.
Edit: I think Langford is a good player on the wing, but I think he is better utilized, and much more effective inside forward 50 and has proven that on a weekly basis. And I think cox is going to be an incredible player, but there is scope for him to become an inside player, which is more exciting and makes me think we need another winger to allow him to become that inside player

Ham is an ok player but he is much more fringe than anyone in our back 6.

Stewart, Laverde, Ridley, Hind, Francis and Redman are all ahead of Ham in the pecking order.

That leaves us with Cox and Langford.

Cox can be a 200+ game wingman if that is his ideal position. However, we want to position Cox for impact instead of need having more options on the wing might be useful.

Langford might not be a permanent wingman either, a lot depends on how his inside and forward craft develops.

Ham's played 25 games. Of course he isn't the finished product yet. He averages 16 disposals this season, hardly the stuff for alarm. Zach Merrett is best used on the outside as we saw last season. The wing isn't in dire need of any fixing. Another would be fine but for me there are other areas that are in more need.

Laverde, Ridley and Francis are mediums. Stewart the only tall there. Redman and Hind are great offensively but hardly lock down defenders. We're one of the leakiest defences in the league and our inside work is also near the bottom. These are two areas we really need to work on

11 goals in 3 games atEastern Football League Div 3 standard is going ok too.
Footscray really let him play that low a standard? He really should be playing Premier or Div 1 in EFL.

That’s his local club so that’s who he will play for regardless, not that it matters when he won’t play there again anytime soon
