Are North allowed to pick both Daicos and Darcy to make the other teams use up their picks, before they take JHF? If so, is there any reason they wouldn't do that?

They could clear Daicos and Darcy off the board but I think it's really only something you'd do if they are clearly better players. When you have 3 guys of similar standing I am not sure you make it known to the world that you took your second or third choice.

A decision could be influenced by whether they know one of these opponents is targeting one of their preferred players with a similar pic but I think that is unlikely.

If I'm GWS I'm bidding without a second thought.

However, the likelihood that McCartney would trade that pick to us is somewhere between zero and a snowflakes chance in hell.

As greenwood was apart of the 3 and that no longer being the case their is an empty spot

The good thing is surely their not stupid enough to gove away probably a top 3 pick for the 15th best kid in the pool unless its say a real need like Gibcus

I heard him say it drops on Monday night. He says it’s harder to judge now because of “live trading”. People don’t want to say who they will pick because if someone gets wind of it they can trade up and steal the guy they want. Eg Richmond get wind that Port want Sinn so they trade up and get the dons pick.

Yeh think clubs hold cards very close to their chest these days. Id assume theyd even hold off showing too much interest ie too many interviews as clubs ask player manages which clubs are giving interest to a specific player

I think that showed last year when a team such as North are happy to give up such an asset as pick 3 for Will Phillips which they showed barely any interest in for 7-8 months pre draft besides watching him play ect

No one saw that coming

It becomes even greater mind games when a club has more than 1 pick in the top 10 and they arent straight after eachother ie: Freo

Separate Note: If GWS pick F.Callaghan then i assume all of Taranto, Tom Green, Bruhn are out of contract end 2022 as of now we would have to be interested in atleast the 2 young guys

Yep Brissy like to team up the country kids for retention purposes (eg: McCluggage & Berry went to the same high school, then they recruited Berry’s brother).
Not sure if this is the article you are thinking about but GWS might be trying a similar policy. Looking at getting Finn Callaghan & Blake Howes because they went to Kindergarten, primary and secondary school together.
Isn’t Howes the kid people are saying we should take if we can snare a second rounder??

I thought I read somewhere that the other guy they delisted and was going to be rookied, Jez McLennan, was going to be really drafted to the senior list instead.

I cant find it though so I may be wrong there.

Pretty sure 2 of Greenwood, Mclennan, R.Thompson were going to be re AFL drafted Thursday

And 1 was going to be rookied Friday (Mclennan or Thompson)

They could change their minds which im sures an option in having pick 5, Mclennan and R.Thompson as the 3 picks in AFL draft
