Not if he's going to miss a tour game and play in the silly big bash. He should have been selected ahead of Warner and now he's completely lost my vote. I used to think it was the selectors that didn't know a 20 20 player from a Test match player. Now the players don't know which one they are themselves. He should be looking to do everything he can to get the selectors to notice what they have missed. Most disappointing.

Do you know him personally? No. Then I don't think you can categorically state he is making this decision selfishly or foolishly...who knows what the contractural obligations of some of these players are, after all. It's a little confusing with Hughes committing and just walking away but surely they have to show some loyalty to the brand.

Anyway, he's playing the other warm up game...so really, who cares?

He deserves it regardless.

Bullshit, the day a player can't have control over what form of the game to play and is "contractually obligated" is the day cricket in this country is dead. If it's true it's utter bullshit.

He just swapped tour games to avoid the clash. Now he's playing a 3 dayer instead of a 2 dayer.

Apparently CA are forcing him to play the big bash game because his team is suffering lots of injuries.

He's been forced to play for the Sixers due to their injury list.

However if you'd have done some further reading, you'd be aware that he is playing in the 3-day Chairman's XI match instead.

He's not contracted to CA. Sydney had first dibs on him. Thankfully they found a compromise that works for everyone.

I think he has shown enough over the last couple of seasons that he is more then worthy of selection and as thorne89 said you don't know what kind of contractural obligations he is under.

Might be right for some players but in the case of Cowans I think he's played enough FC cricket this year. We've seen and know what he can do so we don't need another look at him. No harm him playing the Big Bash.

Why is it bullshit that a player should be expected to commit to a team he is contracted to?

Thats like, life, bro.
