Cleared and good to continue

Matthew Kuhnemann has been cleared by the International Cricket Council of having a suspect action.

This masthead understands that Kuhnemann has been advised by law makers in Dubai that he has no case to answer and is free to continue playing with his bowling action unchanged.

Great result and feel a huge relief for him. Fancy being told of this right at the moment when you should be celebrating after playing a pivotal role in a 2-0 series away win. Sucks he had to experience this but will feel forever vindicated regardless whatever the doubters say.

They really wasted our time on this?
what do you mean our time? more like his time. i think it's a fine thing to do because it confirms for the future that he's legit. simple as that

Sure, are they planning to report every other 'dodgy' action, there are way worse actions around. We could have picked the bloke in the Champions Trophy and not had Sangha running drinks the whole tournament. I love Tanveer but he's not ready.

swings and roundabouts. it happens, that's cricket. it's never a waste of time to check an action for it's "purity" or how legitimate it is. i'd rather it happen now than happen down the track in 5 years.

They planning on 'checking' Bumrah then? Or quite a few others. This is a who cares tournament but we should at least be able to replace Sangha if we were going to pick Kuhermann

Glad he's been cleared.

His action did look dodgy, but in his defence I noticed that even though his ability to vary his pace had improved, he didn't spin the ball significantly more than he did in India (which chucking would facilitate). The biggest difference was IMO with his accuracy, which chucking wouldn't influence.

Stand to be corrected but I think Bumrah's action was analysed some time ago and given the ok?

Possibly I mean I love watching him play but it’s annoying we couldn’t have Kuh in the Chanpions trophy

As suspected

Wilson should never be anywhere near Australian cricket again.

Joel Wilson not withstanding, why is it even an issue that an umpire moved for an action that was visibly suspect to get tested?

This - all of it, from the referral from Joel Wilson to him being cleared - is the right result. It confirms any number of things:
  • Kuhneman action is legal.
  • Joel Wilson's not a good umpire.
This is a good outcome.

I know this board doesn't like the great man but it was the right call. The action looked dodgy, numerous posters on here called it out, the umpire referred it for investigation - and an outcome was determined.

I mean, would people prefer that we - Cricket Aust - were like the BCCI, and no-one would dare to challenge us on anything? Would they like it all that much if results were handed to us on a platter, they way they seem to feel they are to India?

Isn't victory that much sweeter when your opponent's leg up has backfired on them?
