EDFL Div 2 discussion 2026

Think Hadfield will be closer to those top 3. A lot of questions about Beaver last year, and rightly so, but he seems to be switched on. Have gone past their trainings a few times and they have looked good. They had some big full forward there who looked unreal although I haven't seen anything about a transfer being put through.

Also sounds like Josh Polizzi as an assistant coach will be a good get, which surprised me considering the other two Polizzi brothers don't seem too bright. one to watch
One polizzi is a school teacher and the other is a physio or something so that’s a bit harsh. Josh always had a good brain for footy.

And Jake is a ripping person. Actually a good family the Polizzi’s. Going back to your junior club to continue your footy should be congratulated..

Think you need to get your facts right mate Josh Polizzi hasn't played footy in years and maybe you mean Jayke Polizzi as assistant coach? As for the other brother Zac, mate he's a lot brighter than you

Just read this in the EDFL Transfer updates article. He Had signed at the end of the season i wonder what has happened here.
Hugo Jenkins has had paperwork lodged to return to Pascoe Vale after a 34-goal season for Westmeadows in his first year of open-age footy. Jenkins played 128 games for the Panthers up until Under 16s.

as someone who who has watched their fair share of EDFL footy, he is always yelling at his teammates when the don’t pass it. Doesn’t matter where he is. Dont know if you’d want that at your club

Gee disappointing to read this, he was outstanding last year. Westy won't be able to replace him with the season starting shortly so what are their options. Prehaps Evens to play deep fwd but that takes him away from the mid field or Stingle to play deep fwd instead of high half fwd or an up and coming young bloke from the reserves, also the coaches son has moved on as well which makes it harder. Any way good luck to Hugo hope he goes great in top div.

Districts, Hadfield, Northern, KPark and Glenroy all without 18s in 2026.
If it wasn’t for the overflow from other clubs it would only be a 5 team comp this year. Not good for the clubs who don’t have an 18s team this year.

And the newly created premier B 18.5 competition hasn’t helped either. Let’s be honest if things don’t change within the next 5 years some clubs will ultimately fold up without 18.5 coming through. Great stuff EDFL

I did notice there is a new 18.5 comp. I just hope these 2nds teams in this comp don’t pull the pin like a few did last year. Our boys missed out on about 6-7 games last year from that.

What is your solution Turbo?

Do you cap 18’s team entries to 1 x club

Just realised Pacco only have the one u/18 side, but WC have 2. What has happened for no Hadfield, Districts, Northern & Glenroy not to have u/18s. I thought these areas would be cashing in on the latest draftees from these areas. Kako, Sweid & El Achkar.

Glenroy & Northern predominantly have struggled with 18.5 numbers in the past. Districts is a surprise as the other year they had 2 16sides with one in div1 if I’m correct.
Hadfield area not easy for this age group..

Haddy would have had 18’s, however, a few of their top age players made the call to commit to playing senior footy and that had a flow on effect. And they will most likely play seniors too which is huge for Haddy. Some of the boys were playing 18s as Under 16s too so they’ve had essentially 4 seasons of winning by 100+ points most weeks and want to crack into playing senior footy now they are 18. So good on them and what a win for Haddy to have them come through.

Then we know what kids are like these days. Most of the remaining 18s from Haddy got permits to West Coburg, hence them having two teams now and the lower end players just aren’t playing.

Districts juniors were decimated by a walk out of entitled players whose parents enabled them to destroy their clubs junior program. Most of them followed a coach and went to West Preston, now some of those boys are now at Strathmore. Surprise surprise. And just left Coburg Districts in their wake. Young kids have no concept of loyalty and they all think they should be playing AFL footy. Parenting also doesn’t help. Clubs and loyal volunteers are the ones left to pick up the pieces.

The area bordered by Pascoe Vale Road, Somerton Road, Bell Street and Merri Creek now has 1 Under18.5 football team.
