Well I'll be the first Abers supporter to post. Expectations that a loss between 4 -6 goals was what we'd get and a win would be a bonus. Well 90 odd points just showed where we're at. Had a good crack but 1st qu cost us big time. Plenty of the ball but disposal and turnovers killed us. Greenvale still seriously good. Can see them being undefeated again.

How longs the length of the Nullabor?? Save ya funds...sack your Duds now, play the kids....start recruiting and planning for next year....

I agree that greenvale have been the stand out side in the EDFL for going on three years now. Im only tipping against them because last week i tipped strathmore to beat abers and i was pleasantly surprised. I dont want to make the same mistake again.

All dynasties come to an end mate, today could be that day!! Probably wont though!!

i guess abers rnt d force they think dey r after beating strathmore??

nothing on gvale

I'll eat some humble pie. Abers were given a lesson yesterday and apart from the first quarter, never looked like giving Greenvale a run for their money.

Having said that, Abers supporters should be rapt that they are 3-1 because realistically before the season we would have thought we could have won 1 maybe 2 out of first four.

Disapointing result for the two blues yesterday and I'm glad I wasn't on here spruking like some others (looking at you Silly Money, very silly indeed) but I think Greenvale just demonstrated yesterday how much better they are than the rest of the competition.

Abers have some more blokes to come back but on yesterdays evidence I don't think we will get near Greenvale this year.

Having said that, based on what I have seen this year everyone may as well pack up and go home because no one will beat Greenvale if they keep playing anywhere near that standard.

i know they had a shaky start to the year but what about keilor. I was told they ran greenvale pretty close in round 1. You would only expected them to improve once the new recruits gel with the team and they start to click with the coach as well. Any thoughts?

good things are starting to happen down at keilor.

whats going on down at lebo reserve??? No one wouldve predicted them to be 1-3 after 4 rounds....

Still sitting third buddy. Dont write off the season based on one loss. You sound like you have jumped off the bandwagon as quick as you jumped on it you FAIRWEATHER friend. Dont forget that greenvale have been the benchmark for 2 years. I dont think anyone can argue that Abers start to the season has been remarkable because after this time last year we were 0-4(going on to be 0-8).

Its a flying start for the two blues but they were shown what it takes to be a genuine contender. I just hope they bounce back this week against cragieburn who i saw had a good win against heights.

Keilor are the sleeping giant this year and it must have been the spray Mcguane gave them after the abers defeat that has kicked them into gear.

Iwould hardly say Keilor sleeping giant i was at that game and Marby had alot more of the ball in the 2nd half and if converted many chances in front of goal would of won the game.To keilor credit they were in front all day and just proves that u need to take ur chances when there in front of u. The boys will learn alot from that and really starting to gel together with 3 or 4 players to come back in the next few weeks looking forward to the challenge of taking on strathmore and greenvale in the next 2 weeks and c were we are at.

Keilor shouldn't of won that game yesterday hands down.

I only saw the second half, but Marbo Park dominated 70% of the second half and were 5 goals better. Just the strength of Houlihan up forward and Clinnick (26)?? who probably won the game off his own boot, was what kept Keilor in front.
Massive crowd there.

Also, a big crowd at Clifton Park, but the Jets had it won by half time. Too big, to good and just ooze class. Had Abers baffled.

Pretty strong side. Any news on the return of Liam Turner/Allport?? Would make a great addition to an already good side.[/quote

turner may be around mid season. good team yes on there day, is there day saturday? have to wait and see if the men or the boys come to play.

doutta to beat oaks by 50 points - king kade to kick 7.

it was the men's turn yesterday.
not a bad prediction billy old boy 5 points off and kade snagged 6 in a Stella performance but he wasn't on his own. ramsay:thumbsu: both tankards:thumbsu: to name a few. big one at keilor this week boys lets string some together.

Tappy, I was at the game as well and I also seen the same game that you guys seen. Yes Marby played a great brand of football, but remember your ground is only a small ground and Keilor did struggle to find space on the ground to use the ball and move the ball as they have in the past couple of weeks.

Marby had there chances against a less then Full strength Keilor (And Keilor's outs weighed much more then Marby's outs) but could not get the win.

But in saying that you have to play with what is available to you at the time and looking at Marby on the weekend I was very impressed with how good they moved the ball across the ground and how hard they did run. Butter's was a star all day, Matt Towner ran hard and used the ball well, Trav M, was dinamite all day. So I do give you guys credit. But I think with both sides at full strength and on the larger grounds Keilor may have your measure.

It was a game of high standard which almost was ruiend by the umpires!!! even Keilor got a couple of free kicks that was very lucky as did marby in the dying minutes of the game !!!

When are you back Tappy?

I think Keilor are better suited to Greenvale's game style. Keilor can play a shut down game, and have enough strong bodies to compete with Greenvale. Abers are all about run and they just slaughtered them. Abers had plenty of the ball (believe it or not) but Greenvale midfielders workrate is awesome, they push back and flood the backline and then go forward and kick goals!

Can anyone tell me who no.9 is in the forward line for Greenvale? In the record he is named as Obst but i dont think it was him - he was a little bloke with dark hair - had a fair game.

Greenvale defence and midfield are a class above.

Joe Gazzo, standout junior at the Jets for many years and now on Coburg,s list in the VFL.

Got to see Greenvale at their awesome best on Saturday.

Abers were definitely in the game in the 1st qtr and both teams missed several easy opportunities. I think it was 3.5 to 1.6 at quarter time and then the Jets juggernaut came out to play.

They run hard, push back and help out the defence and have superior fire power up forward. Caddy, C. Smith, Hakim and Potter all had an impact up forward.

Bloomfield was terrific in the ruck and their smallish players in Bicer, Gazzo, Kuret, Pekes x 2, D. Smith were all terrific.

Amazing to think that after the half time break their bench consisted of C. Smith, E. Kuret and H. Pekes!

It was a bad day for Abers on Saturday and one positive was that we couldn't possibly play any worse!

At the start of the year Abers would have been wrapped to be 2 - 2 but we're 3 - 1 which is a great effort.

Yeah i guess your right,it would have been a while since the two blues have been 3-1 and there's no shame getting flogged by the vales as i think everyone has at some point in the last couple of years.I remember only a couple of years ago when they were good we(D.S.) beat them by ten goals and had a really good battle at windy hill in the prelim...oh how times have changed :D

And i would agree with what a few people have posted re: no one being able to challenge them for the flag, the mores look like they have gone backwards a bit and there are alot of other teams on even par,its sad in a way ;( oh well here's to being runners up or finishing 3rd,4th,5th etc etc

THE DREBSTER

Was at Abers v Greenvale on the weekend

All this talk about Abers being a quick team who run and use the footy

Some Greenvale players made them look slow, one kid i forget his name tore them apart with pace

If they are true to from of sides gaysy and co, they will always run forward, not saying they are not hard nuts or hard at it, just that they play a hard running forward game, not a lot of defensive pressure comes from they forwards, or even their midfielders,

Particularly the northern boys

As the year goes on it will be interesting to see if they can keep this up,

IF we we ever get some wet grounds, think they will struggle,

That would be smithy who broke the guiness book of records for bounces on the weekend.

Rubbish.

Just like to point out as an abers supporter. I have been extremely impressed by the amount of forward line pressure there has been over the year. Robbie taylor and Brad P have been chasing blokes down in the first three rounds. We missed Robbie Taylors pressure on the weekend but brad p was very good in and around the stoppages. I remember once were he chased a bloke down in front of the hill and it wasnt given and greenvale went on to kick a goal...Pathetic Decision(Did anyone else see it?).

Greenvale made us look slow because they move the ball so effortlessly and run in numbers so they are hard to stop. Im finding it hard to find a fault in there arsenal.

Also, can anyone tell me how long Cole, Rioli, Willoughby will be out for? Are any of them a chance to get up this week?

Is Worthington a chance at all this season? I havent heard much mentioned about him.

Not going to comment on the GV Abers game, I think that's been covered...;)

Haven't heard from anyone at SM on here for a while... Interested to know what the reasons are for the drop in form. Lost Quinn and a couple of others I realise but is there more to it. Was Hille a better coach than a lot of people gave him credit for? Is there more going on behind the scenes to unsettle the players? Anyone from SM care to respond?

What do people think of WC? They're quietly going about there business and travel up to Section Road this week....
