he would be in the plus group, but would be a brave club to consider taking it on this year.

but i guess if you cheat and win the premiership, all will be forgiven
I believe most of Dennis payment is through a third party employer working in Traffic Management. Got given a $80K - $100K job. So impossible to Police.

No need to police employment, it’s within the rules, but pretty naive to think he still isn’t getting a truck load in match payments plus Pats sign on to boot

In relation to the issue of points for juniors changing clubs which crops up from time to time, here's one that will promote discussion here.

WA Football has implemented a points cap at Year 8 level and above (teams are based on school year levels in WA, not age groups) so if players move clubs and the destination is not the closest club to their residence then they are allocated extra points for not going to the closest club. There are also extra points if they are in a WAFL club development squad, etc.

I am not 100% on the way the points are allocated but the maximum is 20 ... and WA Football is backdating the points by THREE YEARS so that players who have moved in recent seasons will also get whacked with extra points.

Applied to the EDFL, it could be a game changer for the junior competition ... especially if they backdate it like WA Football did!

In theory I like the idea, would take some machinations and workings to land on something but definitely worth pursuing.

I've been back involved locally for coming into a third season now, and the one I can't fathom is that U/18 & U/19 don't count for anything.
Points qualifications stop at U/17 level but then resume at senior/reserves level.

The other discrepency for mine has been around defence force families, or for kids who's parents move around frequently in contract type employment.

A little Johnny for arguments sake could play across 4-5 junior clubs up until age 17yo, not because parents want to chase glory or seek manufactured outcomes but due to employment.
Said Johnny then lands at an open age club in his newly arrived community as a 4pt player - plays U19 for two seasons but remains a 4pt player because 3rds footy isn't deemed reduction worthy in the eyes of this you beaut equalisation tool.

Problem is the system was implemented as a 'one-size-fits-all' mechanism with no scope for situations such as these.

It also didn't seem to take into account the variables between metro and country football and that some areas of Victoria struggle to raise junior teams because of their small population. There should never be a scenario where the EDFL and comps such as the Millewa, Upper Murray and East Gippsland are treated the same under a system such as player points but somehow AFL Victoria thinks it's fine.

You would hope there'd be a system for dispensation if something like this was adopted.

If a kid moves from Seymour FNC to Canberra fc to Rockhampton fc, it's a different scenario to moving from East Keilor to Keilor, or Ivanhoe to Heidelberg.

The little Johnny example would be very much the exception (there wouldn't be too many kids playing for multiple junior teams with a valid excuse as you've provided). And if there was, easy fix , set up a committee to hear the clubs argument for reduced points but only when said club can provide evidence from previous clubs of the legitimacy of the claim that little Johnny left their club with their blessing! ie. Family of said Little Johnny to get a written statement from club leaving of reason and not leaving for any other reason than family moving(or any other legitimate excuse). This would put the onus back on the player/family(instead of just leaving, putting in a clearance and moving on, not being held accountable).

There was a submission to the EDFL to implement a points system in the latest bylaws update, it was rejected.

The WFNL and BJFL have a junior points system

What isn't impossible to police is A- his match payments and B- The cash paid to EK to have him cleared dangerous move by Pacco based on the last few weeks of salary cap breaches.

I’m with you G can we please talk about something else ie practice matches, car motors , growing orchids anything.
By all means discuss them then.
It's pretty stupid to jump into a conversation solely to complain about what others are discussing.
You're in complete control of what you choose to read or engage with..

When are your praccy matches?
What are your predictions for the season?

Submission went to the Edfl re a points system for juniors and was rejected so let’s not belt on about it day after day with every variance from other leagues and codes waffled on about it

Keilor didn’t want any points system for juniors so the league bowed down to keilor again. We all know that.

totally get that and would assume such provision could or would be considered, was just highlighting a situation whilst also trying to recognise the bermuda triangle that is 3rds footy and that fact it means nothing in terms of the player points system.
