Let's hope so - don't know how many times blokes have gone to sit on one of those old broken seats from the Ponsford Stand and it's flipped up and you ended on your a*s!

The shower block and toilet are akin to the old green shed Douttas used to put you in before they renovated too!!

Strathmores away rooms are a disgrace, it makes winning there all the better, I bet Keilor enjoyed it and others can stick it to them this year.

Had a conversation with an old stalwart from Oak Park during the week. Remember Oak Park, the most unfortunate team to get relegated(prior to Doutta's) that everyone thought would come straight back up.
Anyway what I found interesting and heart warming is that he was telling me the Club is the happiest it's been in a number of years. Reason's given is that the volunteers, the true club people are under less pressure having to work their ar*es off raising huge amounts of money to pay mercenaries just to compete with other clubs doing the exact same thing. Those people still do a heap of work around the club but enjoy it more than ever as the time spent is improving the place, organizing functions for the purpose of enjoyment first, raising funds 2nd.
The playing list are there for the right reason's, they want to play for Oak Park, play with their mates.
And they realise now that playing "premier division" is not the be all and end all. The supporters will support the Club no matter who the opposition is.
Yes, they will lose some more talented players to teams playing "Premier Div", but that's ok, those players deserve to play at the highest possible level.

Very well put mate. The more clubs that embrace their current situation, and don't try and keep up with the Jones's the better.

There will always be top teams, there will always be bottom teams, however living within your means, and getting back to enjoyment for everyone around the club, and not just working to line the pockets of players, is a great attitude for a club to have.

Interesting round 7 clash between West Coburg v Airport West. The first time they will meet since the grand final in div1. Are some people involved in the ugly untoward incidents still at West Coburg as I'm sure the Airport West guys have long memories and might want to even up without the pressure of a grand final. Is the guy that kicked that day playing?? Surely pay back is long overdue.

Not trying to condone volence or raise past issues but I'm a firm believer in the league should have handed out a life suspension, so as they didn't then you need to sort it out yourself I guess. If it was my kid that got kicked or hit in a cowardly incident I would not like to see them get away with it..
Players should be able to play footy without this happenning.

Yes there was some fights in last years premier league GF but it was more front on not cowardly "dog" acts.

Anyway that's Turbo's "old school" opinion!!

Oak Park has always been one of the better clubs with a good culture both on field and off field.
I remember the old days when they had Doc and Allbones. What a side!! And that's only naming 2 players..

Good facilities and they usually pull a good crowd.

PS: haven't been to Oak Park for a number of year but have they got rid of the centre dirt area over the cricket wicket? Is it now a turf wicket?

Round 2 selections:

Greenvale over Avondale by 15pts
Abers over Northern Saints by 100+
Strathmore over West Coburg by 60pts
Keilor over Marby by 9pts
Pacco over Airport West by 78pts

Can't see any real upsets this weeks but some big winning margins.

Good luck to all sides.,

Turbo, I really enjoy reading your posts, they’re informative and usually spot on the money. However this has to be your worse post… How are you not condoning violence, your comments are almost urging APW to retaliate.
I don’t condone the situation that occurred, however the fact the EDFL is weak in handing down sentences we shouldn’t take matters into our own hands. Times and the league have changed, the dark old days of retaliation should be left there.
Let’s hope the game is played in good spirits and both sides will need the 4 points more than anything else.

Subway, thanks for the nice words. Yeah understand your opinion and was expecting some feedback.
Yeah I don't condone it but I'm one for what goes around comes around...
I like to go to the footy (no matter what league or division) and watch good quality footy that is tough and fair. There is nothing better on a Saturday arvo..
But when I see or hear about these acts my blood boils and some get away with it. One persons stupid act creates others to become involved.

If it's a fair bump you accept it. A bit of toe to toe by some big boys you can probably accept this if it's fair.

So I suppose I'm just going public with what a lot of people think but won't say..

If that happened to my son I would be furious wouldn't you.. What do I do? Go off my dial and walk over to there crowd and go for it.. Not a good look but it's possible when your enraged.
Or do we let it sit and hope the players meet up again one day either on field or off field and he gets his pay back... That's what I call fair....

King hits and kicking are the lowest acts in football and some people out there still get off on this stuff.. Get rid of them all I say..

Ah it's Friday frustration, I'm getting toey. Should be Friday night games in premier if all clubs had night lights..

Anyway Subway keep up your good work mate..

They were great old days - we'd go to war on the field and then spend most Sunday's doing the Anglers/Jimmy Rowes/Star Bar/ triple header!

We had some great battles at the turn of the century with Oak Park's back to back sides of 2002 & 2003 full of great local talent.

Great opponents and terrific blokes off the field - Doc, Boner, Magic Milner, Nick Chalmers, General, Hatchy, Ziros, Digger, Shep (ended up with us at Abers), Whittle, Fletcher - no doubt I've missed a few too!!

Hey Puff, is Brock McLean playing for Marybourgh this week? Surely this type of situation is not ideal. What's his schedule as I hear he is playing for some other clubs before clearances close, or is he just missing the so called "easy" games. Let's be honest there is a few games where sides will ultimately rest players as is the case these days..,

Where did you play most of your footy before Abers ??

I'm not Puff, but I can answer this for you. Yes, he is playing for the Magpies.

I'm hearing the same Turbo, for 3 and a half grand I've been told. When I suggested this maybe happening a few months ago someone from Abers was quick to jump on saying not a chance.
Not sure you'd need to rest a 28 year old in round 2.

The only thing I will say is his from Abers originally so I suppose it's not as if they recruited him from somewhere else..
I'm not sure Brock would attract many supporters through the gate though as his not Fev or Aker. He was a serviceable player at Carlton but not the flashy type you go out of your way to watch..
I'm guessing he will speak during a luncheon so that might be interesting..

Who said "not a chance"

We've know about it from the moment Brock signed - absolute transparency and if it's been approved by the club who cares..

Tips this week:
GV - 17 points
Keilor - 17 points
West Coburg - 17 points
Pascoe Vale - 117 points

Maybe Brock will dish the dirt on malignant Mick in his speech.

REALLY!!

Can someone please give me ONE good reason why a club that has invested a significant amount of money, (possibly the most ever by a local club) in an attempt to win a premiership, would allow one of their prized recruits to turn himself into a traveling road show.

BIZZARE!! EXTREMELY BIZZARE!!

Surely there would be a lot more risk in any such decision as this, than reward!

round 2 tips
Northern Saints vs Abers. If Northern Saints can be competitive they have done well, long year ahead of them. Abers by plenty.
Greenvale vs Avondale. Greenvale very hard side to defeat at home,
Keilor Vs Marby. Bias tip here, bad kicking at goals by the Marby boys last week cost Marby the match. I know goal kicking practice practice was high on the agenda at training this week. .
Strathmore Vs West Coburg. Digby Morrell returns to coach against his old club, tipping West Coburg in a upset with Digby knowledge of the Strathmore players.
Pascoe Vale vs Airport West. The all star pacco players are talking premership, however premership are not won in April, will be to good for APW on the day.

good to see the marby boys decided to come and play after half time vs Keior today. must have been some spay from the coach Castello.

Go Marby!
Must have been an enormous performance by Marby. To come back from 34 points down and not kicking a goal in first half, to topple Keilor at Keilor was a superb effort. 8 goals to 1 in last quarter.

Don't think Marby will play finals, but their performances so far suggest they will have a big say in who does.
