Sincerest condolences to Moe's family and friends and the Northern Saints family as a whole - absolute tragedy... RIP
In regards to Case, seniors aren't on the radar at all and in fact playing footy again wasn't either.. It was his first ever reserves game at the club - it may be his last/it may not but it was great to see him back out there.
Great thing is his last game of footy will be in an Abers jumper now.

Second hand info but I'm told there was a bit of biff resulting in a Greenvale player being sent off.
Amongst the confusion they replaced the player and then Strathmore called a headcount.
Umpires also reinstated the score at 3/4 time.. but either way strange scenes.
The league are apparently reviewing which score will stand.
Perhaps Stax or someone else will have more info?
Not sure Blue Jet. I must confess I actually attended Keilor/Abers match yesterday.
From looking at scoreline Jets well and truly stitched Mores up. I think they are really the most legitimate threat to Abers this season. Looking forward to their next match up at Section Road in 3 weeks time.
Both really powerful units, Pacco a bit further back. Unfortunately, forget the rest as far as premiership aspirations go.
Marby have certainly performed extremely well to date and could very well pinch that 4th spot.

The result of the game will come down to a edfl commitee meeting. The fact the Greenvale killed 6.10 in the last quarter should mean they still should win the game

That's been confirmed, it's just a matter of which scoreline is kept.
There was a big brawl right in front of the Strathmore bench before 3/4 time. As has been alluded to a Greenvale player was sent off. I'll add at this point that players from both teams lost their cool. Said Greenvale player continued to play and a minute after play restarted, a head count was called. Scores were 36-76
This was handled badly. As I understand it, score and time should be noted and then an investigation takes place during the week. The umpire advised the timekeepers but for some reason the GV score was wiped at 3/4 time but quickly reinstated. As we all know, it was pointless as GV beat Strathmores score in the last quarter regardless.

Yep. Top 3 then daylight. I have Pacco in the Grand Final against Abers but Greenvale a well drilled machine. The smaller Maric is a great footballer. Nothing of him though

Surely the league would have to be concerned 'Stax on the mill' with the fact that only seven rounds into the 2015 season we are left with only three realistic worthy contenders competing for the 2015 Premiership Cup in Premier Division!..
Hardly a Premier Division!..
If you look deeper into the EDFL competitions the same scenario has formed in Division 1 and Division 2..
Hardly entertaining!..
Surely the Points System has to be the answer to help ensure a fair and equitable environment is created in all Divisions which in turn will give all clubs a sense of hope and opportunity in a competition that has genuine interest and intrigue on a weekly basis for the duration of the season..
The Points System will not only help ensure more competitive and entertaining games week in week out but it will also provide many more challenges for club administrators, such as:
1. Employing coaches of a pure essence who develop and implement game plans to suit across all age levels rather than just magnet movers, as magnet movers will get exposed..
2. Implementing quality strategic recruiting decisions on an as needs basis instead of just stock piling talent..
3. Implementing and delivering quality development strategies from within their very own club..

Can't disagree with your take on it JustOverHere and the excellent points you raised. Last season was one of the best I can remember as far as competitiveness went in Premier division. For much of the season 5-6 teams had some sort of chance to win the flag. The other 4 teams had upset wins during the season against the top teams and were engaged in a nip and tuck tussle right to the last round to avoid relegation.
This year, unfortunately the opposite is the case. Huge blowouts in a lot of matches is a disincentive for people to attend, disheartening for the have nots, and is not good for the future of the league. I don't know if the points system is the answer or not, it would likely make for a more even competition. But it may also drop the overall standard and be hard to police.
I don't profess to know the ins and outs of how the points system would work in practise. I know it has been touched on in this forum to some extent. It would be interesting to hear people's views on it and whether they are for or against, and why.

Has l mentioned on the div 1 forum the EDFL should seriously look at grading the U18. 5 so the best U18. 5 play each other & the clubs battling to get kids might be able to retain & attracted kids to their club knowing that there a chance of winning or being competitive in each division & this might help clubs to retain their top jnrs & rebuild with locals & move up the divisions in years to come instead of losing gun kids to bigger clubs because there seniors have drop down a division
A good example could be Hillside who could drop to div 2 next but if the U18. 5 sides playing premier division they shouldn't lose any kids

You are definitely right 'Stax on the mill' last season did have a lot more genuine interest and intrigue as there wasn't any one club spending at least 20% more on total player payments than any other club, unfortunately this scenario definitely has many short term and long term adverse affects on the competition going forward. The points system will definitely shift the focus for clubs to develop a sustainable strategy based philosophy rather than just unsustainable financial based philosophy's..
The points system won't be hard to police once all rules and regulations are put down in black and white for all clubs to adhere to, it will help ensure the overall standard of the competition becomes more even as top end talent will be forced to negotiate adequate contracts with a variety of clubs in an attempt to secure an attractive contract that suits both parties, this will in turn spread the talent out over a number of different clubs in a number of different divisions and competitions..
The suggestion 'milkman99' makes of grading U/18 teams definitely has merit as this would help ensure a fair and equitable environment is provided for all relevant clubs to develop home grown talent in an environment that is both physically and mentally challenging for future senior players for their very own club, even if it does provide some issues for the league administrators with the fixture.
Tracking home grown talent will play an extremely important part in all clubs strategies going forward once the point system comes in and finally, just finally these young talented players that poses the required skills to play senior football may be adequately renumerated at their very own club..

I also couldn't agree more. Clubs will definitely beef up their junior programs, better coaches, greater financial resources all leading to better club experience all round. I was speaking to a Saints rep just yesterday, (by the way condolences to the Allouche Family and to the Club - this thing has hit them hard, as you know they don't have that many volunteers that put their hand up, so it will be hard for them), and they are definitely in support of the system. They realise they need to more with their juniors but relish the chance to do it in an environment that they see may be able to give them a better chance to compete against the more powerful financial clubs. Bring the points system in, 83% of clubs want it Victoria wide, this an overwhelming majority of clubs.

Hey Star, it's been an interesting year thus far as what's happened at Strathmore & Avondale to date. I'm struggling to understand what's happened at Strathmore as to my knowledge they didn't lose many from last year however maybe haven't recruited to top up? Avondale have a very good list and would be disappointed in their season, (as spending good coin) as they have been below par.
Keilor bit up & down and not enough scoring power to currently match the top 3.
Marby doing well with their young side. Haven't seen them yet so can't really comment.
APW,WC, NS, probably to far back to make finals..
With regards to the present top 3 sides they all play a different brand of footy.
Abers - strong bodies and have topped up from last year so are definitely favourites. Their forwards are unpredictable, with Riemers the wildcard. Good depth.
Greenvale - tall side with a strong spine. Dangerous forward line with Smith, Hill & Maric, and some other smells complimenting the talls. Maybe lack some speed through the middle and need more discipline from what I seen. However can score heavily which is what you need come finals time.
Pacco - midfield runs deep which is their strength. Also have a couple of class forwards but will rely on Polizzi to bob up to share the load with Warren. At present lack some quality key backs to contain opposition sides. Lack depth, but at full strength can challenge.
