If the players take pride in their performance then they would beat West Coast on Saturday. We have put in an improved performance against Port but its well short of our best footy.

IN: Hart, Bassett, Stevens
OUT: Burns, Perrie, Reilly

F: ..... Welsh ..... Stevens ..... Johncock
HF: ..... Ladhams ..... Carey ..... Goodwin
C: ..... Stenglein ..... Ricciuto ..... Burton
HB: ..... Torney ..... McGregor ..... Hart
B: ..... Smart ..... Bassett ..... Edwards
RUCK: ..... Clarke ..... McLeod ..... Bode

Int: ..... Biglands ..... Shirley ..... Massie ..... Bickley

Emg: ..... Burns ..... Perrie ..... Doughty

Thoughts??????

You have created another thread on me Stiffy...

We should account for West Coast if we play with yesterdays attitude & get slections & matchups right. Stenglein on Cousins, Shirley on Judd, & let the rest do their business.

I would return Stevens to the forward line with Carey & play Perrie off the bench. We need to get back to rotating our midfielders as too many ran out of steam come the last quarter.

Tough selections ahead. Those I would consider dropping for the 3 likely ins are Ladhams, Burns, Bickley, Torney & Reilly. The former 3 have been average for a while now.

Possible team:

B: Hart, Bassett, Smart
HB: Massie, McGregor, Torney
C: Burton, Stenglein, Shirley
HF: Goodwin, Carey, Johncock
F: Bode, Stevens, McLeod
R: Clarke, Ricciuto, Edwards
I: Biglands, Perrie, Welsh, Reilly

In: Hart, Bassett, Stevens
Out: Ladhams, Burns, Bickley

 Sorry!!!!!!

Your outs are a bit drastic. You say you would go back to rotating midfielders but drop 2 players from that rotation in Bickley and Ladhams and bring in 2 KPP and a tall flanker.

West Coast will have McDougal out with broken jaw, Jakovich with a hammy and McIntosh reported so they would be pretty light on talls and have a lot of runners. If we want to bring both Bassett and Stevens in then we must drop Perrie for the sake of balance.

Apologies to marksgirl, but I can't see any point in bringing Stevo in. It's appears too late for him to find form and have an influence now.

Perrie had a bad game this week but shouldn't be dropped. He will have been told all about it by Ayres and will bounce back IMO.

In: Bassett (although I doubt it), Hart.

Out: One of Ladhams/Burns, Reilly/Torney

He run himself into some form on the weekend. He palyed at CHB and collected 23 possesions and 11 marks and was by far Eagles best player.

Ahh, tanks.

Why didn't he play for the Crows????

Some of our coaching/selection decisions make me feel like crying. Or smashing something.

According to Steven Trigg that was the toughest decision coaching staff had to make but apparently Ayersy bit a bullet and sent him back to SANFL to get some form. IF he could run himself into form he would be in the Crows the following week. Apparently that was the reason.

I like Stiff'y team placement the best. That is definitely our best line-up in defence and the one we played when we were at our best.

As for the Ins and Outs

Out: Burns, Reilly

In: Bassett, Hart

We definitely don't need the extra tall against the Eagles this week, so it has to be one of Perrie or Stevens IMO. I'd give one more chance for Perrie.

Surely Shirley starts on Judd? One of the few genuine Weagles matchwinners, he must be closely watched like last time IMO. I wouldn't want him to get his confidence up.

I cannot make a case for keeping Ladhams in the side. He has been shocking since he got the flu.

IMO, we need Edwards in the midfield. Give Hart his mopping up role in the backline.

Actually, forgotten about Matera - Edwards needs to play in a back pocket. :o

So why did you name him on a HBF? ;)

What match-ups do you think Ayres will find for Matera, Sampi, Wirrapunda in our forward line?

Embley is very similar to Burton and they might go head to head in midfield which is dangerous either way.

I think the key to West Coast winning is our small forwards.

Ins : Hart, Bassett and Stevens

Outs : Burns, Ladhams and Reilly

AFC have no reason whatsoever not to pick both Bassett and Stevens this week both had great games on the w/e in the SANFL this is a must win game there is no tomorrow.............GET IT RIGHT AFC!!!!!!!!!!

Our small defenders are Edwards, Torney and Massie and maybe Shirley again (although I'd prefer him to be in the midfield in a tagging role).

Hart or Bassett could also take a small forward if they come back into the side and if the West Coast forward line isn't overly tall.

I know I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but surely if you drop 3 running players you would replace them with at least 2 running players.

I know Ladhams and Burns have not shown much in recent times and Reilly will be the first one to be dropped but if you are to drop them wouldn't you want to replace them with similar sort of players especially since West Coast are not a tall side and have a lot of good running players and a lack of KPPs??????

I just hope we don't go down that path because it would throw the balance of our side right out the window.

I reluctantly drop Ladhams but the other 2 should go whether they run or not.

Hart and even Hound dog can give us drive off the backhalf; plus we need Stevens to get into the thick of the action NOW

You can take banfield out of the team, he did his back at training today. I would replace him with Ashley Hansen a young KPP.

Stiffy, unless conditions are atrocious, our side last week is too short IMO.

Ladhams & Burns have had enough chances & need to go back to the SANFL to demand a return to the side.

Bicks being a legend of the club probably deserves 1 more week.

If the weather is shocking, then I would probable drop Perrie for a small. Harsh considering his season, but Stevo is a better matchwinner IMO & gives us more flexibilty.
