Didn't see the game last night.
Did his direct opponent kick any goals on him?
Also does anyone know how Hooker went before being subbed yesterday?

Pretty sure he was on Dawes for most of the night. He only kicked one and I think Emac was off the ground at the time.

I'd count his fumble in the goalsquare as a direct goal against him.

My calculations haven't worked that way.
Because I've been counting goals kicked directly on him even when the turnovers result from our players poor decisions/executions.
If I did what you suggest I'd penalise him for
1. Goals caused by teammates and kicked by his direct opponent;
2. Goals caused by him kicked by teammate's opponents.

So the stats don't tell the whole story. ;) :p

Otherwise I'd be doubly penalising him (like I laid out above).
Now, no doubt, he may deserve to have a black mark against his name for his fumble but I'd also be putting a mark against Howe's opponent as well.
Even when Priddis turned the ball over in the Derby resulting in Pavlich kicking his only goal on Mackenzie I still marked it against Mackenzie. It was completely Priddis' fault but it still goes on the ledger.
I think there is has to be a difference between causing a goal and having a goal kicked on you. It's not ideal in regards to reflecting on how defensively well somebody played but that's why we don't look at stats in isolation.

Wasn't sure where to post but Jon Ralph being a flog about Emacs AA chances

He's not on the selection committee is he?

No he's not but prepare yourself for a let down.

Rance stood up when it counted last week - that performance alone will give him the spot.

McKenzie deserves the spot on the basis of a consistent, year-round performances but unfortunately he doesn't play for an East-Coast club.

Gonna be so pissed if eMac misses for Rance, so sick of the Victorian bias and I'm a Victorian myself. Rance is a flog, eMac has been the best full back the entire season and stepped up after Glass retired.

E-mac also made the 40squad last year (iirc) and consistency, rather than flash in the pan does count (even though it is now 2014, not 2013)

To be fair, Ralph is a pathetic excuse for a journalist.

Emac should be receiving his second AA but probably will still be on donuts after the final team is named.

E-Mac will make it.
He is our best player, and will probably win the fairest and best, between him and Priddis.
E-mac has been the best kpd in the afl, all season, had the least goals kicked on him, played every game.
Is a beast one on one and has terrific disposal, runs of very well.
He is a complete defender.

Is this not exactly what we were saying last year though ?

I thought he was a shue-in for the B&F too, and then Priddis ended up ****ing winning it.

They love rewarding good form over a couple years though. Remember when Lecca missed out after his 60+ goal season and then got in the next year despite have a less impressive season? Ezy has put in two very impressive seasons so hopefully he gets in.

EDIT: my mistake, lecca missed out after a 58 goal season and then got in on the back of his 60+ goal season.

It's going to be even worse this year.

Last year, we all thought Emac, Masten and JK would be top 3 easily.

And then along comes Matt. He's played a better season then he did last year too, so on that logic alone, he's already won.
