Essendon FC + ONE other PLAYER at ONE OTHER club being investigated RE: Doping

How many clubs sack their sports science guy on the basis he "may" and "possibly" was doing naughty stuff.
You don't sack people unless you have some pretty damn solid proof otherwise you are open to all sorts of unfair dismissal claims.

Didn't they sack him because half of the team broke down with hamstrings?

They could barely field a team by round 15 due to soft tissue injuries.. Call it what you will but due to external and internal pressures something had to be done. Hence.. two, four, out the door.

Something that is being overlooked in all the hysteria.

We are talking the lowest end of banned substances and given to players without their knowledge. The alleged situation just defies common sense.
Given to without their knowledge! Gees they are good down at essendon they can administer drugs into footballers stomachs while they are asleep or just oblivious

There are some pretty potent peptide hormones. I would consider hGH to be a pretty considerable advantage in a sporting environment.

This is the biggest political beat up ever.
Essendon seem to have a rogue sport science team. They are being investigated.
Out of the minimum 744 players on AFL list 1 other player is being investigated, that is .13 of 1% of AFL players.
People should be 50-50 with the bombers. There conduct looks to be highly questionable but there is no compelling evidence as yet.

All the media focus has shifted to this one player, but I haven't seen any suggestions that it's a former player involved - I'm sure it would have been emphasised in all the reports if that was the case.
Wasn't what was said in the link a suggestion that it is a former player?

Its not a former player its a current player media know who the player is.

Er no. That doesn't get people worried as much so, the media will keep that bit out.

"The AFL is not aware of any issues of potential use of PED by any players on an AFL list coming into the 2013 season. There are some potential historical issues we are investigating"
Gillon McLachlan

'players on an AFL list coming into the 2013 season' could mean 2013 players undertaking the 2012/13 preseason.

So current (2013 players) could have potentially used PEDs in 2012, but not coming into the 2013 season (eg this preseason).

So whilst my interpretation is just one possibility, I think it shows that you can't rule out 2013 players without clarification.

We don't know player's name: Demetriou

CEO Andrew Demetriou says the AFL does not know the identity of the single player being investigated for possible doping, and that the player could potentially play during the NAB Cup.

Multiple players from Essendon and one player from one other club are under investigation.

An animated Demetriou said the AFL was unable to notify the other club because the AFL itself did not have that information.

"I want to make it clear we have not been told the identity of the one player," Demetriou said.

..........................................

Gillian McLachlan was clearly out of his depth yesterday.

FMD the AFL loves the bombers, they are carrying out like its imperative that they name the ONE player from another club that is suspect, how about naming the 2, 6, 10 , 15 , 20 essendon players that are suspected.

Talk about carpet sweeping..

So one player from one club is the death of football as we know it, but multiple players from one club is ok.......is it me or is there something inherently wrong in this.

Fair points. I think I just misread his meaning. You get that sometimes!

I have strong mail that 99% of the people claiming to have mail on this forum are full of shit.
Not a truer word is spoken, I'm not sure who is dumber, the people who say that or the people who then run with it?
