wish he was playing :( he loves the blues

Serious question for Bombers fans what is with Zahakaris's hospitals kicks? Seen him set up two team mates to get crunched (Heppell, Dempsey) with his dinky little kicks into the corridor.

Shut up. That's why.

No it doesn't.

Essendon won the 1897 and 1924 flags under the system that was in use in those particular two years.

It's not their fault that the VFL decided not to have a grand final in those years.

Talk about clutching at straws.

16 grand final victories to 14 says it all really!

16 Carlton
15 Collingwood
14 Essendon

Shouldn't you be out buying your next champion player from another team?

Home grown Brownlow winners since 1990
Essendon 3
Carlton 0

Home grown Premiership captains since 1990
Essendon 2
Carlton 0

Carlton, Buying success since 1990. Pity you're in 7mill debt or you might be good once again.

Love the since 1990 part. Do you want to go through the team of the Century and see what "home grown" is all about?

I am ever so proud to support a team that has won 16 flags.... and none by default. No other team can say that.

Oh and your little comments about "buying" success:

Essendon between 1991 to 1996 - Flags bought: 1
In 1996, Essendon were fined a record $638,250 ($250,000 in back tax and penalties, $112,000 for draft tampering and $276,250 for breaching the salary cap regulations), forfeited their first, second and third round picks in the National Draft and were excluded from the 1997 rookie and pre-season drafts after a joint Australian Tax Office and AFL investigation found that they had committed serious and systematic breaches of the salary cap regulations totalling $514,500 between 1991 and 1996, including $110,000 in 1993 when Essendon won the premiership.

Carlton between 1998 to 2001 - Flags bought: 0... 1999 Prelim fits in though ;)
In 2002, Carlton were fined an AFL record $987,500 and forfeited their priority picks in the 2002 National Draft, their first and second round picks in the 2003 and 2004 National Draft and were excluded from the 2003 pre-season draft after an AFL investigation found that they had committed serious and systematic breaches of the salary cap regulations totaling $1.37 million between 1998 and 2001; ruckman Matthew Allan was suspended for five matches and fined $10,000 for accepting undisclosed payments from club officials. Carlton struggled for seven years as it recovered both on and off the field from these significant penalties, finishing no higher than 11th in 2004 and winning their first-ever wooden spoons in 2002, 2005 and 2006. After the draft ban expired, Carlton received a multitude of priority and first round draft picks.

So basically you cheated and still won three wooden spoons?

Says a lot, really.

Here is a quiz:

Which is the only team to have been found guilty of salary cap breaches during a premier season, have been handed two flags by default and have been inje... oooh wait, not allowed to go there... ?

Again, 'by default' is a crock of shit.

A premiership won by a round robin finals system is still a premiership- that was how the premiership was to be that won year.

Would you be counting it if Carlton had won one or both of those?

Or would you be saying they'd won premierships 'by default'? No, no you wouldn't.

'By default' only applies if a runner-up is awarded a flag because the premier is stripped of their title for some reason, or if one team 'wins' in the event of another forfeiting (say the England v Pakistan Test match in 2006).

But keep digging that hole, this is fun.

Let's play.

I've removed bought players such as Williams and Barassi.
Players who got paid outside the rules for the majority of their career in Silvagni

You have Jezza, Douls and Nichols left.

We have Coleman and Reynolds.

By that count we have 2 Legends in the side each, so we'll remove the making up the numbers player in Douls, and let's be honest, Bill Hutchison was 10 times the player.

So, 2 a piece. One has a prestigious award named after him and the other has 3 Brownlows.

So that trumps your remaining 2 players.

That leaves it as players that matter
Essendon 2
Carlton 0

Forever in our shadow
