One of the most ridiculous decisions I’ve seen. That was comically bad.

Gattusso has handled that well. Marshalled his players away from the officials, probably telling them not to do anything stupid.

Then once they’ve moved on, he sprays the linesman himself. Classic

But it looks worse and worse on replay. Literally right in front of the extra linesman, he’s right there. Amazing that was allowed to be a penalty.

Just gets worse every time you look at it. There has to be some consequence for a decision that bad. I mean, sure mistakes are made. Players try to con the ref etc... But when a decision like that is given where there's no simply no possible reason or explanation for why the decision is anything other than a yellow card for Wellbeck... there simply must be consequences and public explanation. Otherwise you lose all trust in the officiating.

Should have been a yellow for diving. Pretty poor from Welbeck. Breaks his goal drought, but not the greatest way to do it.
