Im not sure where your at with your journo career but if your just starting off why not start writing reports on games etc and submitting them to local papers and hell even to state papers. If they're any good Im guessing they will pick you up and put you on. I believe thats how Eddie started off when he was a young tacker.
Im not taking the p*ss Bradesmaen, genuine suggestion if you haven't already thought of it yourself.

Yeah, uni work makes it pretty tough, if I aint doing uni work I'm trying to socialise. I do write for an F1 website though.

Apart from the obvious downer, yeah it was good. I love Melbourne...

But I tells ya, I couldn't take a trick - there was a weagle conspiracy out to get me...

1. Arrive 6am to the Tiger tin shed, after a horror flight (bloody hell Tiger is a crap way to fly)... first person I see waiting on the other side is wearing the bluenyella scarf of the dirty birds. Starts jumping and waving and I realise with relief that she is waving to the person behind me.

2. Stop in at Seamus Flanagan's on Smith St for a refreshment after a few solid hours of walking. Sit down and on the Big Screen is the last half of the last quarter of Saturday's game. So we watch Freo whimper and splutter their way to defeat (although what i realised is that while we were generally pretty awful, we weren't horrendous... things were just falling their way - like that hack out of the air in the middle from the bounce which landed on Fraser's chest... although there is also that school of thought that you create your own luck - which they definitely did). So straight after the Freo / Pies game, the weagle / bris game started... as if to rub it in. We lost, the bluenyella peril won.

3. Order a cab.

You are right on the money couchy. Our list is severly overated! We have too many passengers and not enough drivers.

Mediocrity is what we are happy with, if we win 2 games a year (derbys) then we are rapt. Forget finals, derbys is what the FFC play footy for.

Mark Harvey needs to wake up. Drop the inconsistent players back to the WAFL. Yes Mundy, Headland, Gilmore, Duffield, Tarrant, Peake, Dodd, Michael Johnson and Crowley this means you. Bloody passengers on a ship which lets be honest began sinking in 2007. Adelaide in adelaide then Geelong.

1 Win 5 Losses is f...k... disgraceful and senior players will pay the price for their inconsistency... Just ask Joel Bowden.

Pavlich mayne and bell are the only 3 safe at selection... Wooden Spoon candidates if we dish up that effort every week

Then how do you explain our performance? Whether or not a player gets their stats to something respectable by games end, something must be asked about how the ____ we are losing games so badly. Someone needs to go in with a broom and clean out the shit.

I have to seriously wonder, and I know this is something you shouldn't just accuse people of, so I'm not.... but does anyone think some players in our team may intentionally be playing a shit game due to betting? I have to get it out there. Look at the money you would have made betting on Richmond to win today... jesus.

Sorry the "Eagles" bit was in reference to your bit about Freo only being interested in winning two games a year (the derbies). You can guess how many times I've heard that over the last week from weagles fans. We didn't beat them last week because it was our 'grand final'.. we were crap last week, but just lucky that they were even crappier.

To make it AFL level you have to be a pretty driven competitor. And once you get there you make a decent wage.

I doubt there's many, if any, AFL players who would sell out their team's chance at premiership glory in exchange for making a few extra bucks (besides Chris Judd).

This is what I think every time we put in one of these pathetic performances.

Pav doesn't deserve to play in a team of squibs who think they only have to put in an effort every few weeks.

His loyalty at least matches any lifelong diehard Freo supporter. He probably deserves to be in our hall of fame before he even retires.

I doubt there's many, if any, AFL players who would sell out their team's chance at premiership glory in exchange for making a few extra bucks (besides Chris Judd).

Come now, imagine if you had friends or family you wanted to help out. Tell them all to place a $5000 bet on richmond (or whatever team Freo get's massively favoured for - even Richmond supporters were chalking this up as a loss) and they walk away with a problem solved. I'm not even sure if it's illegal or not, I mean if they get caught they will probably get kicked out of the AFL if it's a big bet... but yeah. It's a problem facing all teams in the league.

I'm sure 99% of players would never consider it, but to think say 1% haven't tried it would be a bit naive I think.

Yah you'd probably need like 2-3 players to influence the game greatly I'd think, unless you're a Pav. And I don't think Pav would ever do anything like that.

One thing that stuck with me is Heath Black said the culture at Freo was different to the culture at the Saints in regards to the players spending time together outside footy, wonder if this is still a problem with us, not enough bonding or something.
