Where abouts in Sydney are you? Because there are some amazing Bottle shops in the Eastern suburbs as well as Strathfield way.

Ryde area. Equidistant from the DM's at Top Ryde and Eastwood, haven't seen Rochefort at either of those. But will keep a keen eye out from now on. Cheers. :thumbsu:

P.S. I've been to the town of Rochefort, on a Euro road trip. Had a look at the Notre Dame - St Remy Abbey, but they don't let visitors in. Anyway, filling up with fuel on the way out of town, stopped at the petrol station, went in to pay at the register and get a drink, and the entire bottom two rows of the drinks fridge in the petrol station were Rochefort 6/8/10's. Going at around 1 euro a bottle. No kidding.

I'd already stocked up in Bruges.

First tried Rochefort 8 and 10 at the Belgian Beer Garden in Melbourne. I was only going to have one beer that day. Yeah, changed my plans pretty quick.

Sucking back an LCPA while watching the Swans game. Just keep coming back to them. I'd kill for Little Creatures to release an IPA on a regular basis though.

Head down to Platinum Liquor in North Strathfield. It's on Concord Rd at the main strip on shops there, next to the Dominos/Pizza Hut. Best Bottle Shop in Sydney without question. They have an incredible range, stuff that people thought would never hit Australian Shores.

Really enjoying these at the moment - with the lime

Never seen it at Dan's, I dream of the day Rochefort is available so easily. Will have a look next time I'm there.

You can get 8 and 10 quite easilly at slowbeer or purvis, if your in melbourne of course

just enjoyed a St Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, perhaps not as broard and rich as i like it but stunning complex flavors, up there with the best stouts in the world

I do consider myself a beer expert and today I tried a new one in Belgrave after work. From a fairly hidden Australian microbrewery as the guy was telling me, nobody really knows about it.

It was called Carldon Draught I believe, or Carlten. It was delicious, a flavour derivative from malts and quality hops. Never tasted anything quite like it before. Apparently it's coming to every single bar/tab in Melbourne at the same time very soon.

Limited time only though.

Can only get cats to piss into cans for so long.

Will be heading down there tomorrow to stock up. :thumbsu:

It's an amazing shop. Plenty of big name West Coast US stuff. Stone, AleSmith, Green Flash, Great Divide, Moylans (maybe, don't know if its arrived), Sierra Nevada ...

Ask if Adam is there. One of the two brothers that run the 2 stores (other one is in Bellevue Hill). Adam knows his beer.

Went to the new local dan murphys (win) the other day, felt like a kid in some sort of a store the amount of beer there was around. Ended up getting a mix of Squire Amber/Pilsner (cant go wrong), 6 pack of Monteiths Summer Ale (Pretty damn good drop that) and a couple of english beers to give a shot, Kent Spitfire and Sheepshaggers gold or something. They'll potentially both be shithouse, but may as well try something different.

I've been drinking the extra cheap German beer Henninger recently. An easy drinking lager, great value when you consider what cheap Aussie beers are like.

I've also been sampling a few Konig Pilseners. I feel it has a fairly bitter hops taste that I quite like, but if you're into bland ice beers - stay away.

I work in a bottle shop and am exposed to all sorts of different beers. Unforetanutely I have treid some pretty woeful beers.. grolsh, corona, tsingtao, tiger, chang etc... Two that really nabbed my attention though are Singha and Asahi super dry. Absolute corkers!

I could get used to this grabing a beer I haven't tasted yet after work, but I've tried just about everyone we've got to offer. I am only 18, so I have plenty of time to find some belters! :thumbsu:

Best move it to just go into Dan Murphys, and grab a 6 pack of random stuff you've never tried. Stick to Australian stuff first. The Belgian stuff in Dans is usually pretty big and confronting beers, and can turn some people off.

Stuff like Knappstein Lager, Wicked Elf varieties, Stone & Wood ...

Best move it to just go into Dan Murphys....
My wife works there & she recently got a heap of beer that was 40% off due to stock changes, got me about 20 different Aussie micro beers dirt cheap. I keep forgetting to post the ones I try on here.

Loving it!

The Australian Asahi Super Dry is terrible. Disgusting that it is given the same name.

That's the stuff that is brewed under licence in Thailand, yeah?
