Another game refused classification, this time it's Fear 2 that falls victim to the Classification Board.

F.E.A.R 2 Refused Classification

Another harsh blow by the OFLC. Fear 2 has been rated RC meaning it has officially been banned in Australia. This is yet another added to the sadly large list of games that have now been edited or banned in Australia this generation.

It was scheduled for release in February 2009 so we may see our version edited or it may be delayed for a worldwide edit just like what happened with FallOut 3.

Before you "Search function n00b" me, I made this so more people would look at it and we can discuss about Restricted games.

Fear 2 thread ^^

This one will be a definite import now, can't have a Fear game gimped, it will take all the fun out of it.

Maybe they should try to make more interesting levels and enemies at the expense of some of the needless gore?

Just a thought.

Maybe South Australia can pull their heads out of their arses and give Michael Atkinson the arse at the next election.

They're South Australians, you know they dispise the rest of Australia for being better than them. So no they won't vote him out.

MelbourneMartin, I think this looks pretty awesome. Infact **** that, this look ****ing amazing.

That's the first 18 minutes of the game ^^.

It's a Horror, what the hell would you expect?!?

Not to mention Fear will be using the same A.I(If not more improved) as F.E.A.R 1, which already makes enemies interesting enough.

While i'm not at all happy about this, I think some guys get way to worked up over this whole R18+ games debate... like usual, they will just re-edit it, with probably the most trivial difference, just so it 'officially' complies with the OFLC.

I think it's fair to say martin has NFI. The game will be bloody amazing!

People thought the same thing about FEAR and it turned into another generic shooter with a half-assed slow-mo and the occasional cool horror sequence.

Also you don't need excessive gore to make a good horror, whether it be a movie or game.

But then again, I have NFI.

Yet another reason why an R18+ rating would make it so much easier.

It will be interesting to see what the hype on this game is like in the coming months. Myself, I'm not really convinced, I bought the first one for $45 and finished it. Pretty gd yeah, scary as a **** at some points but yeah. The problem I have with the 2nd one is that it looks so much the same as the first! Anyone else think this?

Seems is if they just used the exact same code from the first one and changed the scene, accept a hospital isnt exactly original either lol :p.

A game like FC2 has been able to retain it's style, but its still a completely different game.

That is all.:D

Those reasons for banning it are horrible.

"The classification report lists examples of high-impact violence such as the game's hero Michael Beckett using his sub-machine gun to bisect an enemy, with the "two parts of the body lying separately on the ground, with copious blood spray"."

FallOut 3 anyone?

You can blast away almost every part of the body in FallOut 3.

Did you not read the article, most likely they will edit out blood spray, decapitations, bisecting bodies, pinning bodies to walls, and pools of blood.

**** that shit.
Imports ahoy.

Hard to see them editting out all those things because that's more than just a simple overhaul, it's a major change to the physics engine.

Crysis was one game which had a weird sensor on it. All ragdoll movement was removed after someone was killed.

Maybe, but most likely alot of blood, and body part dismembering will go.

I'd say it will get an editing like Dark Sector.

No I didn't, I didn't really want to... but i'd be surprised if it was that drastic... like we've never seen that in a game before:rolleyes:

They'll probably just do what they did to SOF: Payback. When you shot and killed an enemy, they would just fall to the ground. No blood, no dismemberment, no ragdoll physics. You couldn't even shoot the boody up when it was dead.

Annoying considering it was the only promising, discerning feature of the game.

Strange how some games are rejected for having too much gore when Fallout 3 enables you to severe body parts and such. Yet, Fallout 3 had to be changed because of an allusion to morphine.

That's the whole reason it was refused classification though .

But like the poster above me just said Fallout 3 had to be changed just because of a stupid reference to morphine, yet they still had the amount of gore and violence this game has, if they ban this game for those reasons wouldn't it be double standards. Ah, maybe I should have actually read the article before posting, my bad;)
