A good effort, griggsy - usefully economical too. Your spelling and punctuation will benefit from visits to the following thread;

The issue of the 5th column must be resolved. I'm afraid we cannot extend special consideration on the basis of age to non-Pies posters.

As you may have read here, nothing has yet been decided about the 2009 Buddy Board, but if you watch this sub-forum, and are still interested, we will consider the possibility of making you an Honorary Pies Poster. If there are no serious objections to the in-principle involvement of a Carltonian, you may then submit your application for the position of Buddy Reporter, but those of black and white blood will naturally be given preference.

However, I must warn you that there may be resistance to having outsiders post here in our hallowed cyber spaces.

 Honorary Pies Poster?
I think the name might need to have a little adjustment :p

Hopefully there shouldnt be any serious objections, because its not as if I'm going to be biased, and start bagging the crap out of Medhurst or anybody like that.
But like i said when i posted this:
griggisalegend said:
i was just curious as to whether i am able to take a pies player for a buddy :D
but ONLY if there werent enough collingwood supporters doing their own buddys
I would only like to have a buddy, aslong as every Collingwood supporter who wishes to have one, does in fact have one.
For a 13yo I can be very un-biased.

Unless we're refering to a specific 1979 GF incident involving Wayne Harmes:p

A good effort from the Mad Blue.....but I think I will have to go to some kind of supporter re-assignment program for this to ever feel right...

This must be "against nature" at the very least.....some crime against the cosmic id.....

The fact that he/she? is young and so interested in the Pies begs the question...can we turn him?:)

Maybe a board based intervention? A laying on of hands and all that kibosh.

He/she would have to recant all things blue.....:D

Throw him/her in a pond and see if they float....or if he/she ways the same as a magpie...do magpies float?

No ...no this is just wrong....it's doing my head in.

Im a SHE :)
No chance of turning me into a pies supporter, my pa has already tried that.
But theres nothing that makes me more proud, than to see the boys run out in the navy blue guernsy, knowing that one day ill be watching them win a premiership (dont deny it pies fans:p)
Going to see them train, and meeting the players i've idolised for so long (braddles, diesel + ratts) made me realise how much i love football, and how much i love the club, which is more than i thought.

Back in primary, i used to hate the pies with a passion. Just because the two clubs were the biggest rivals in the AFL, and there was no other reason.
Then last year, as I started highschool, my pa has taken me to so many collingwood matches.
I then went through old footage of the blues and pies' rivalry, and i just love the fact that this rivalry, is mutual and respected by most teams.
Then I was thinking about the fact that Collingwood is just a club. Exactly like ours. They have presidents, they have players, coaches, and more importantly, they have supporters.
I stopped hating them, and now I respect them as a club, but it still makes me happy to see us smash them, or just to see them get smashed by pretty much anybody.
Ive been to matches, am going to the B&F if we can somehow manage to get tickets, and will deffinately be going to the Grand Final if you make it.
In a way, the club that you all support has made me more mature than what I was, which is pretty cool, considering I hated them for no reason other than rivalry I didnt understand.

I had my suspicions regarding your gender....and was right.

You certainly are a one of a kind Carlton supporter, maybe your Pa being a Woodsmen has somehow genetically altered your brains "hate" centers?

Some time ago I posted a sure fire "reprogramming regimen" for young Carlton supporters but you may be a bit too old for this.

Anyway, cheers, all the best and hope you still feel the same way after spending some time with Carlton supporters in the wild at the MCG....:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Griggsy, for me, you are undoubtedly a child of the footy universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here, if only for your Pa's sake. And if what you propose seems unnatural and even perverse to some, I'd suggest that you're simply ahead of your time - a cappuccino kid in footy terms, with sufficient imagination and detachment to be able to rise above the legendary rivalry. And you can spell "biased".:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

When the time comes, I will be happy to sponsor your application, and so might Pie Eyed, when he's had time to absorb the notion.

I'll have along drink on it...

OK here goes.....

I find it strange that a NON pies supporter can come into our little wonderland and troll away baiting us Pies supporters in our own section of this vast world and if we get stuck into em we get carded. I think in the spirit of Victoria Park we should declare open season on any non pies supporter who dares enter our wonderland. Sure we shouldn't be allowed to slam them without reason, but they shouldn't be allowed to even question our logic or challenge us in anyway.

I'm Tess and Thats my take .... :)

Relax Tess, sometimes an umbrella is just an umbrella. And sometimes even an opposition poster is only 13, and a genuine footy lover.

I don't mean to gatecrash this little love-in but a few things Griggs say raises a few alarm bells.

A) How does a 13 year old know about the Wayne Harmes incident in the 1979 Grand Final? I turn 28 in a couple of months and I wasn't even born when that happened. Ok, possibly her old man told her, so we'll let that slide.

But...

B) She lists her childhood idols as Craig Bradley, Greg Williams and Brett Ratten. If she's 13, she still is a child... Secondly, Bradley retired in 2003, Ratten in 2003 as well. Meaning this so-called 13 year old was only 8. She hardly had time to idolise them for ages...

Greg Williams retired in 1997! If she is 13, in 1997 she must have been 2! How can you idolise somebody who you couldn't possibly even remember playing a single game "for so long".

And C)

In her sample essay, she described Travis Cloke's first two seasons as DISMAL.

Such a critical outlook on one of our brightest talents both then and now imagine if she drafts Alan Toovey next year what will happen to him! Dismal. Dismal. Dismal.

A word that has no place in the Magpie Buddy Board.

Dismal according to dictionary.com can be defined as:

dis·mal

–adjective

1. causing gloom or dejection; gloomy; dreary; cheerless; melancholy: dismal weather.
2. characterized by ineptness or lack of skill, competence, effectiveness, imagination, or interest; pitiful: Our team played a dismal game.
3. Obsolete. a. disastrous; calamitous.
b. unlucky; sinister.

Hardly our Travis Cloke...

I'm sorry Griggsy but to get my vote and convince me this isn't just a shifty Blues supporter greasing the wheels for a 2009 wind-up you are going to have to speak more effusively of our playing list.

But Lothie, if young Griggsy is prepared to be tested, and to put in the work required to pass through the many portals that lead to Pies Buddydom for the outsider, I feel we should give him/her every opportunity and encouragement, as well as the benefit of the doubt.

It could be like the search for the Holy Grail................................

a) The Wayne Harmes incident? I thought it was a well-known controversy. Youtube does wonders when searching for things like these.

b) Did I say they were my childhood idols? woops. Obviousley a wrong choice of words then.
For starters, Craig Bradley was my first ever favourite footballer. The first guernsy I ever recieved (when I was in year 2, but had loved him since kindergarden) had his number on it, and I never really had the honour of meeting him.
With Diesel, I take that back, he was a terrific player (highlights, GF videos, match videos etc), but no, i never actually got to see him play.
Brett Ratten? I've seen him play. I remember watching all these games on TV (yeah, i never really got to matches then:D) and screaming his name out. When your young, you dont remember these things in detail, but obviousley you remember those who you liked, and enjoyed watching play. And its the ones you love, that you remember.
Would you like me to have mentioned afew others that I liked watching?
The obvious names of Manton and Hickmott spring to mind.
Once again, wrong choice of words for me, but I think that I might have been refering to the current playing list aswell, like Fisher, Waite, and Hoops (yeah, im a bit of a fan of his.:p)

c) When I said that he was dismal, I was saying that up until last year, his goalkicking hadnt been that accurate, and that he didnt manage to play consistant games.
Honestly, I love Clokey, I reckon that hes brilliant, and I have a feeling that I rate him higher than the average Carlton supporter, but you cant expect me to say he was brilliant, and outstanding, when IMO he wasnt.

Im not a troll, and in my earlier posts Im sure that I have said that Clokey has been one of my favourite players.
If I didnt care about your club, then I wouldnt be on this board.

no such chance, i plan on keeping my teeth :p
Oh but you can and when you become a collingwood supporter you lose that scummy smell

Good effort on the essay too for a 13yo lol

 take that back! haha
yeah thanks, it wasnt too hard anyway.

jeez, the things you do when you have a day off sick :p
Its attached to that vomit enticing Blue Jumper Lmao.

I tend to sleep on my days off/sick days, laziness.

It was a good effort from a non collingwood supporter, even now i dont think i could write anything indepth like that on a non collingwood player and i know i definetly couldnt at 13.

You have some respect on this board so you and eddiebettsisachamp are welcome here any time, the rest of the blue boys well they can stay over there:thumbsu:

Good effort youngster

That blue jumper just got washed today. No joke :p
Yeah, I usually tend to sleep in till 12, and then go outside and kick the footy around :D
I was more than happy to do it, considering I was able to do it on one of my favourite players (only two of my top 5 faves are Carlton), and writing is one of my favourite subjects anyway, so I wasnt too fussed.
I only found it abit wierd, because its like the first piece i've written thats not about Carlton! :o

Wow, a Carlton supporter that appears both intelligent and respectful to Collingwood, I didn't know such things existed.

Juries still out.
It's either a setup, just wrong or both......maybe?

She seems genuine to me.. maybe I'm too trusting? I think she should be given a chance, if she can prove herself. It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of someone looking from the outside, and it's very rare that you can get opinions from opposition supporters that are not biased.

Of course she would need to be watched very closely, a Carlton supporter can never be fully trusted. ;)

(thread about who you want to win the saints/pies match)
saints because of the robert harvey factor
but if the pies make it, i get tickets
still doesnt mean i want them to win though.

(Favourite moments of this season)
4) when the pies were responsible for taking us to the top 8

I stopped hating them, and now I respect them as a club, but it still makes me happy to see us smash them, or just to see them get smashed by pretty much anybody.

(About the hawks v tanks match)
mum changed her mind
going to the match now
just cant go onto the field when buddy kicks the ton (only wanted to coz hes one of my many favourites)

As a 13 year old Carlton supporter; I was never able to experience that special Wayne Harmes tap back into play during the ’79 Grand Final against the Colliwobbles, or the 1995 Grand Final against the Cats.

Being young though, i should like dale thomas, but in fact hate his guts.
i always enjoy watching clokey in the forward line though, even if it is for the enemy.

I know its off topic, but i really really dislike Judd.

(about Fevola)
good game.
still dont like him.
never have.
proberly never will.

You are one strange supporter.

Favourite players are Franklin, Cloke & Pavlich
Don't like Judd
Don't like Fevola
Hate the "show pony" Dale Thomas
Want to see Collingwood get smashed by anyone
