I voted for Preseason draft as it's the most juicy option; however, I suspect that Mooney will be upgraded. I don't see why they would have done that trade with North if they want to use pick 82. I assumed that they were going to get a DFA, but reckon that that would have already happened if that was the plan.

Since we haven't made a move on a delisted free-agent yet, I was thinking the reason why traded out 42 and 48 wasn't because we weren't going to use 48, but because they player we had in mind wouldn't have required that sort of pick, and 82 will do the job. In that case it's possibly someone (a ruckman) from a lower league such as Currie. So I'm going with using Pick 82 but I don't mind either way, as long as we aren't upgrading Mooney. I don't get annoyed at the club but I would be annoyed with that decision. A little bit.

I would've thought we'd be using it on a delisted free agent, in particular a ruck. However, as time goes on it looks unlikely we will be doing this.

I am still doubtful we will use the pick in the National Draft as it would've been a mistake to trade picks 42 & 48 for 39.

Therefore its either a PSD pick or upgrading Mooney. I hope its not to promote Mooney as I think he is still very raw and needs another year as a rookie.

It seems unlikely we'll use it on a DFA now, so I'd say we'll wait till pick 82 in the National Draft and if one of Hine's highly rated youngsters is still there, we'll take him, if not we will then take a player in the pre season draft.

The final list lodgement isn't till a week after the National Draft, so we could still upgrade Mooney too after the first draft.

Giddy Up.:thumbsu:

Anyone other than Caddy and Tippett we know of who will likely be in PSD but not available as DFA?

why would Caddy be in PSD? he has been traded to Geelong

Josh Toy might be worth a punt, but even though we overlooked him F/S - if James Stewart is still available at Pick 82, then yes please.

I don't think we'll take a DFA now and doubt we'd upgrade Mooney as we had the chance already.

Reckon Hine will keep his options open. I think they'll go to the ND to take 4 players but if someone is still there that he rates at 82 they might pull the trigger then and there. If not they can leave the spot open to assess what is left in the PSD to best fill a need: ie another youngster or mature type.

Anything but upgrading Mooney/

Why will it be Unlikely we use a DFA Now? Still has over a Week to Run?

Pardon me, I meant Toy.

Pardon me, I meant Toy.

I think getting toy would be a mistake, he is so aerobically handicapped any player he plays on will know that now and just run him into the ground in the 1st quarter then dominate after. He would be a liability despite his very nice skills.

Does anyone actually know the truth about Toy though? There have been so many contradictory statements made on the topic.

Probably. I'm not so concerned with what people think we should do, as what they think we will do.

He has a heart condition stopping his heart going over 120 BPM. His manager say he can still play AFL, GC and the other clubs i'm guessing may have different opinions. His manager will obviously say anything to get him another contract so you can take it with a grain of salt

This is exactly what i'm talking about.....I've heard 100BPM...... Now you say 120BPM.

I call bullshit......
I get my heart rate up to 140-150 sitting on a cross trainer for 5 minutes.
If Josh can't get his heart rate above 120BPM, then there is absolutely NO WAY, he would have been drafted in the first place.

TRS and others went over this topic in quite a bit of detail in another thread. The short of it was that if he couldn't get his heart rate to that many BPM he wouldn't be able to play football, or any sort of rigorous exercise for that matter. It's a non-sense rumour and total fallacy which you have bought into because of media reports and in the face of all the evidence.

You can do rigorous exercise at 120BPM, you just get less oxygen to your muscles causing you to fatigue faster. I know a bit about this stuff, which thread was it discussed? Also for an elite athlete, 120BPM would equal around 160bpm for you or me
