Or maybe celebrate 80,000* members!
Does this sentence actually have any meaning? When I put it together with what has been said I get this:

You said: Should Collingwood remove $20,000 worth of 3 game memberships from their final figure?
I said: For what purpose? Maybe to satisfy the 5 year olds out there who have no idea what the numbers mean.
You said: Or maybe celebrate 80,000* members!

Now it may be me but I fail to see how removing $20000 worth of 3 game memberships serves the purpose of celebrating 80000 members. Maybe you could enlighten us all.

The AFL have released final membership figures for 2013.

2012 premiers Sydney have the highest membership growth for a club over 3 years old.
Their cousins GWS have the highest growth but their raw numbers are still the least of all clubs. More will no doubt join as the club experiences more success.
Gold Coast may be slightly concerned that there membership growth hasn't been huge.

Serious concerns must lie at St Kilda and Melbourne, the only clubs to show negative growth. Western Bulldogs would also be worried.

Whilst Essendon supporters have rallied around their club, 2014 may well show a huge reduction in numbers pending the AFL and ASADA investigation outcomes.

The remainder of clubs are relatively stable membership number wise.

Excellent work from the Essendon community, despite our toughest year to date we have smashed our previous membership record.

Gary March said on SEN a few weeks ago that we had over 64,000 memebers. Not sure if it counts but worth noting.

These figures probably only include memberships greater than 5 games I would imagine and purchased before 30 June 2013.
I stand to be corrected however.

dont read into it too much...when u count a one game membership in these figures it is a con job

And what's wrong with that? What if circumstances only allow you to attend one game a year and you want to still support your club? 1 or 3 game memberships should not be discounted, they are still real people putting money into there footy club.

The Dogs shouldn't be worried. In a year where we were widely predicted as bottom 2, even a chance for the spoon, we managed to increase our membership total.

And this was before the past 6 or so weeks when we started playing well!
