Can we make the finals for 2008 ?? It's looking very unlikely but yet is still possible....
As of this week we are 1-5. Not exactly inspiring...
What is your gut instinct ??

For some strange reason i think yes,

We havnt been to far of some of the top sides while only playing 1 good game (Geelong)

We have Melbourne (A) Bulldogs (H) Carlton (A) Port (H)

Now if we win 3 of those we will be 4-6 win them all and where 5-5,

Not looking so gloomy with that in mind is it???

It's possible we could. Way too early to get a good fix on this season. We have taken several steps backwards, but can still get momentum up, especially with the run of games coming up.

Of course we can!
OK 1-5 sucks, but we've played some decent teams and we weren't far off, except in the Richmond game.
It all comes down to consistency, we have the talent and the skill.
This week's game will tell us whether we'll be there or not.

I liken the Geelong game to the Swans game in 2006. I think the players with continue with the style of play they showed and will get a good run on. We can beat all the teams we play in the near future

poll for egirls is will they win the spoon this year or finish 15th.

my tip 15th which means they wont even be good at tanking coz they still got beaten by melbourne in the tank race.

Yes we def can make top 8 especially when you see some of the teams currently in 8 and just out of it.

Trump the awful troll..
We are in with a chance every match..
Question is.. do you honestly think you can beat Carlton? Or is booing Judd going to have to do for now?

Can we? Yes we can.
Will we? No, i dont think we will.

As well as obvious reasons i hope we do, but i also have 2 cartons on it so i would appreciate it that little bit more.

We will make the finals - it's not just about us winning, it's also related to those teams just above us losing as well. The old April Premier's Syndrome will hit a few early achievers that I don't want to mention out of respect to their members and media bandwaggoners talking them up.

It's a long season and some early starters with 'lots of great kids' will fade looking at THEIR fixtures and opposition as well.

Let's be honest here.

You havent won a game away from Subi this year and you havent won a home game.

This is a rather long way round about saying the only game Freo have won is against your mob - is it that hard to admit it?

To the point. Mathematically yes, so as a fan I've got to tick that box, but I'm not so convinced. The next few weeks will tell allot, there some very winnable games there and and if we aren't winning those and winning well ....

No worries!

There are 17 games left. all we need to do is have 2 x 5 wins in a row streaks and pick up one of the rest.

Last time I checked Rip 22 minus 6 is 16. :p

On the question, I answered yes we can, but we probably won't. We need to go 11 and 5 for the rest of the season which is a big ask.

We really can't afford to lose another home game having already dropped 3 at Subi. We need to win our 8 remaining games at Subiaco which would leave us needing to win 3 away games. Hopefully after this week we'll have one away win on the board. Any more than 3 away wins would be really tough considering we have away trips in Geelong, Sydney and Brisbane.

I think the club needs to re-assess where we are at after 11 rounds. If we are sitting 3-8 or worse we might aswell play the kids. The worst case scenario for season 2008 would be to win 9 or 10 games and end up with pick 6 or 7.

If we can't play finals at the mid-season mark best to play the kids to get the experience for next season, hopefully win around 7 games, and get a pick in the top 3 or 4.

What if we play the kids (or more kids than we are now) and we end up with 9-10 wins and 6th or 7th pick? Surely that wouldn't be that bad?

Can we make the finals - yep, sure can. I've got a good feeling about the rest of this season. :thumbsu:

From 10 games 1-5 can become 5-5, 4-6, 3-7, 2-8, 1-9

Now 1-9, 2-8, 3-7 simply becomes in the too hard basket. We do not play finals.

4-6 and then we will be close to even money to make the 8.
5-5 puts us at even money to make the 8.

Next 4 games are critical and we can't afford to drop any (but maybe one, but not against Port coz I hate Port).

With Geelong and the Hawks on 6-0 and Bulldogs at 5-1, the rest of the ladder is fairly even, lots of teams on 2 or 3 wins.

Add in the couple of drawn games and we're only 2 games out of the 8. Half the teams above us will drop or plateau at some stage.

It's just whether we're good enough to beat them when we play them.

On last games form, we should be but it depends on continued form of the kids, senior players, injuries etc.

Several players are on the up and the guys in the wafl deserve a game which means positions in the team are going to be hard to come by - that means the team should not have too many probs with consistency from here on in.

We can make it :thumbsu:

Yeah obviously if we play the young blokes and win its a positive. But I'll be filthy if Mark Johnson, Matt Carr and Macca are regulars in the second half of the season.

Let's be honest here.

You havent won a game away from Subi this year and you havent won a home game.

Your side is too slow to beat the Dogs, Port and Calton. Your only hope is against Mlebourne.

West Coast's only hope is to do a Carltank on Melbourne in round 20 and draft Natanui with pick #1.

Of course we "can"

Sadly I am one of those silly optimists who thinks we can make them even when it's just a slim mathematical chance :o

If we keep up the intensity then yes we WILL.
