the Toffees, the Bays.
I know every supporter base thinks their team gets the bad calls.
But the momentum of the game swung on a bad call yesterday.
Giants kicked 4 or 5 consecutive points beginning of 3rd quarter.
Johannisen thinks he'll waltz out of defence by running and turning away from Jye Caldwell, who nabs him and sticks the tackle.
JJ drops the ball. Umpire blows whistle.
It's right in front of goals. Caldwell to kick.
No what the? Holding the effing man? Are you for real umpire?
And Bulldogs immediately travel forward through the witches hats and goal.
Certainly no noise of affirmation on that decision, no 19th man, no home ground advantage.

Plus 3 pretty clear marks that weren't paid in our forward 50. That was crazy.

the free kick differential only tells a fraction of the story as to how bad the umps were

Gee i wish Leon would draw attention to it. I know we don't want to sound like bad losers but there needs to be a mention if it is going to be written about in the media and therefore be addressed (seems the only way to do it)

Reckon Leon has held himself back from having a crack at umpires ever since West Coast game when he had a crack at them at QTR time.

This has become the new norm for us. 4 or 5 times in the Sydney game, 3 or 4 in the Hawthorn game and that wasn’t the only one in this game.

Pick up the ball, take two steps, get tackled, drop it, free kick holding the man.

Absolute rubbish.

we should be used to umpiring against us (we aren't a Vic team) - but our effort, especially pressuring and getting to the ball was non existent, no surprise when we got the ball that WB players were hassling and attacking and forced the turnovers... and leaving players unmarked in the 50, we were rightfully smashed...

all those behind in the 3rd quarter, some of those were kickable and we didn't produce.

The loss is on the players & coaching staff, we're in the finals, its up to the players & coaches if they want to have a go in September...

2nd straight game (at home as well), where we didn't kick a goal in the second half.... even GC kicked goals against Hawthorn.... no hiding from this fact, we played poorly again and got smashed again....

My 2c worth:

- Umps/Free kicks: I’ve had enough of the umpiring!!! We are dead last again in the freel kick differential for this year (usually us and the tigers in last place over previous years). Something the club MUST be putting to the Afl on this. On field, Phil you need to be speaking and putting pressure on these clowns.

- Where’s the intensity and pressure? During that 2nd qtr we responded and applied our pressure and it did rattle the dogs for those times. It needs to be sustained for much longer periods. We simply crumble when it comes our way. A big issue atm and we’ll fall in a heap cone finals.

- The Backline: Confidence is at an all time low and frustration rising. Phil and Heater are being beaten more and their disposals are poor, costly turnovers down back are leaking goals. There was a lot of argy bargy going on and our guys were put off their game and confidence is shot. Too many fancy short nervous kicks leading to turnovers and goals. Earlier in the year Phil was in AA form and now looking like a liability down back. Missing Sam Taylor enormously! Heater needs to settle down and focus on the game, no more 50’s.

- Injuries curse continues: Here we go again for the 4th straight year. Start to get the troops back as finals approach but all too late given their lack of match practice. It cost us a flag and possibly more than one. Need to review this and replace those in charge!!

I still have the most faint hope that the injured stars will return fresh and replicate the Dogs of 2016. And thank god for Toby Greene, gee he has been fantastic out there.

very difficult to watch.

I'm not really in a position to analyse why we fell apart so badly in the 2nd half- we certainly made a few errors coming out of defence, and kicked poorly to the last target on a few occasions.
yes, a a few ump decisions seemed to kill us but you ought to be able to get yourselves up.

Still time to get something out of the season but very troubling fortnight.

Tobes was moved fwd in the 2nd half and we fell apart.

Says something really.

Exactly, Toby Greene belongs in the middle, Kelly the wing or forward. I have said it all along.

Williams better as a midfielder. Gave up to goals when in defense!!!

Apart from umpires that were very bad, GWS had a lot of passengers.

Reid was bad, De Boer ineffective and Simpson really makes GWS down a player.

With Simpson and Mumford against the Hawks GWS are two down so cannot win. With Simpson against the Bulldogs GWS are at least one down.

O'Keefe kicked two goals, Tomlinson one. Both these have to be rotating through the ruck for GWS to have any chance with any sort of run versus the bulldogs.

Hately had to play!!!!

With the selections GWS played the Bulldogs on one leg!!!

Nah if Cogs, Hopper and Ward are fit then I'm happy, very happy to have Tobes as a small fwd.

Williams had a bad bad day no doubt but is usually very very good down back.

Tomlinson should be let go. Has done nothing all year and was pretty much jogging around on the ground the past few weeks.

Hey we want Leon gone to. Well some of us.

Nope, Hopper and Toby both are in the guts. But Toby can rotate back into the forward line when Coniglio gets back.

The reason GWS did well when Kelly and De Boer was out is because Williams is better in the midfield than defense and Toby is better in the midfield than up forward!!!

GWS weakness is the backline and Williams makes it worse. Davis might not agree but he had a poor game on the weekend to!!!

I agree Tomlinson runs around as an inbetweener that seems to be a jake of all trades master of none!! As such, he needs to go into the ruck and rotate with O'keefe so GWS is not one or two men down due to rucks that offer nothing!!

The sooner the captaincy goes from Davis to Toby with Coniglio the better.

The youngsters need to step up and move on from the older players that are holding them back so they can develop and achieve the goals they seek to achieve including ultimate premiership glory!!!

We haven't done well at all since MDB and Kelly got injured.
So who gets left out of the middle?

Ward, Kelly, Cogs, Hopper, Taranto, MDB, Greene, Williams?

Davis has been shocking the last 3 week's.

Leon isn't ruthless enough to bench stars.

The problem with the Giants is they get these players like Davis and Ward who are good players but they are not stars.

They go there to help the club form and develop but really they are not the pillars of a future premiership.

Its pretty easy.

MDB does not belong in the middle except against weak teams so rule that out for finals.

Ward can play a HBF maybe.

Kelly Wing/Half forward.

Hopper in the guts, Taranto general mid but also rotating in the guts.

Greene and Cogs in guts rotating forward.

Williams general mid like Taranto rotated in the guts.

Caldwell needs to keep playing as does Hately who can also go forward.

The youngsters need to get more of a go.

The trouble with the Giants not making many changes is they do not know what they do not know because selections have been static for far too long reducing dynamic growth and inhibiting the teams development and progress.

The team has not played its best because it has not been empowered to grow through a lack of opportunity and living in the past!!

Davis has been over rated I think. He is handy but Haynes is your best back and really others should get more of an opportunity.

I assume with those playing for GWS you have no talent whatsoever in the NEAFL??

Its a joke Hately, Hill, Caldwell took forever to get a crack!!

Ah yes, let's be a Bulldogs supporter and pretend that the umpires didn't miss a bunch of frees that GWS should have received and Dogs were given some frees didn't exist. Just like the 2016 campaign's repeated missed throwing the ball instead of handpassing, the sliding takeout of Hanneberry in the GF, etc etc etc.

What surprised me was the time Perryman was taken out of defense and Kennedy was up forward instead of defense as well.

A lot of experts suggest continuity is important for team defences and I think a number of GWS players where disconnected in terms of system and gelling together

Keep trying to deflect from your 60 point flogging by focusing on a couple of minor decisions, while ignoring the ones that went your way, seems like a winning formula.
Eh? Nah we were absolute s**t.

But if you want to think the mutts aren't protected and the AFLs favorite fairytale you're an absolute flog.
As a mutt that goes without saying though.

Amazing these dicks keep talking up that 1 banner yet their "club" changed their name for money and did so by using focus groups while ignoring their own supporter base.

This coming from the club Gil has openly spoken about wanting them to not lose their best players. If you seriously think the umpires made an iota of difference yesterday then you’re exactly as knowledgeable as I’d expect a GWS fan to be.
He has said that about all players.

Has said multiple times he wants players to stay where they are drafted you absolute Muppet.

And as usual you mutts can't read I never once said that it was the reason we lost.

Get the fu** of our board toe jam.

I'm very worried about Shaw finishing up next year. No natural replacement on the list. Well Kennedy might be if he ever found some form I guess. Maybe Cumming?

Not sure where Perryman fits in. Watched a bit of the replay and he's amazingly slow.
